wow...earthshattering stuff....

having a winning record and beating your main rival should be every teams goal, at a minimum.

and for the record, he was 2-0 vs ole miss and went to a bowl game both years he coached....

and we still fired him.

Too many fans and administrators think that if you get different grass it will be greener. It seems that is often not the case and there are so many examples to choose from to prove it.

In this case it kinda was though? Leach was an improvement over Moorhead I think most would agree. He at least temporarily fixed the downward trend State was on after Moorhead was out.

Very top heavy roster.

If that was true, why isn’t he still at State? Didn’t he beat OM and go to a bowl game most years?

As much as I liked Mike Leach, his record did not scream that. They were pretty much the same. I do think that Leach had MSU on the right track. But I also get why Joe Moorhead feels like Mississippi State stabbed him in the back.

Moorhead’s average record over two seasons: 7-6

Leach’s average record over three seasons: 7-6

Yep. I love leach as a person but that roster is in brutal shape.

but leach didnt get the benefit of an OOC schedule in 2020 or a bowl game to claim. that would be 2-3 more wins to that short 3 year average.

That is true. It is all hypothetical, but he would have likely had an average record of 8-5. But then again, we have seen MSU lose to Maine. Either way, that doesn’t change the fact that Moorhead absolutely has a reason to feel like he was done wrong by Mississippi State fans and admins.

Regardless, the decisions that Mississippi State made have led to their football program wandering lost through the desert. The immediate future for Mississippi State football looks very bleak.

Classic OM pretentiousness.

There is not a single State fan that would prioritize a win against Ole Miss over a chance at a National Championship.

To be fair the president of our school would. Now everybody else? Nah.

bullshite. This right here shows why he was fired, he was a failure and had no self awareness to correct the issues. Arrogant prick

His first season had enough talent to win 10 games. Completely squandered the best defense in the country with a putrid offense trying to make Fitzgerald into something he wasn’t. Then year 2 it all fell apart and was going down the drain.

Mullen consistently had competitive teams that played hard and were disciplined

Leach inherited Moorhead’s shite and had an empty cupboard in year 1 not to mention during Covid with an all SEC schedule and still made a bowl and won the bowl.

Leach beat more ranked teams in 3 years than Mullen and Moorhead combined from 2009-2019 not to mention a 9 win season in his last season.

For Moorhead to think he did anywhere close to the job of Leach or Moorhead shows his stupidity and arrogance and that’s exactly why he failed. He is an arrogant yankee POS who looked down on our program and felt that we should have been thankful to have a coach like him. He thought he could be mediocre and we would adore him. frick him and the horse he rode in on. The only good thing he did was get fired so we could enjoy 3 seasons with Mike Leach

I think I know my fanbase better than an Ole Miss fan. Y'all love to project this illusion that you are all we care about. It's an embarrassing look for you all and reeks of insecurity.
