The guy is a hell of a football coach but an absolutely terrible human being if reports about him are true. I dont see how he keeps getting opportunities.

Edit* I am specifically talking about Propst

Rudy Griffin

Haven’t heard that name in a while. He was an assistant at Washington State at one point. Looks like ECCC most recently.

Who and or how is this even funded? Do the kids there have to go to normal high school classes and what type of academic staff will/do they have?

The 10-game slate includes games against Our Lady of Good Counsel (Md.), St. Peter’s Prep (N.J.), St. Frances (Md.) and IMG Academy (Fla.), four teams that finished 2019 ranked among the nation’s top 25 teams by MaxPreps.

Their schedule is brutal for a team in their inaugural season.

USA Academy, a new private school based in Coosada in rural Elmore County, plans to offer online classes and field athletic teams. It’s a new model for high school athletics in the state.

The school plans to build a stadium and fieldhouse/football operations center in Coosada and has an ambitious timeline of playing home games in the new facility this fall.

I live in Prattville.

There is jack shite in Coosada. They don't even have a traffic light, just a 4-way stop.

Some real estate mogul IIRC. They'll get creamed in year 1 but if the school doesn't fold then this is a powerhouse in the making. Say what you want about Rush, but the guy can coach HS football. Now he's in at a school where he can legally recruit, in a metro area that happens to be full of both talent and horrible public schools.

This experiment will go one of two ways. The school shuts down and nobody remembers it ever existed in 10 years, or it turns into a program on par with Mater Dei, St. Frances, IMG, De La Salle, Hoover's of the world.

I guess there is a third option where Rush does something shady enough to get fired, but he's going to have an enormity of talent to pull from. Last year the State of Alabama had 68 native sons in the NFL. That was 6th behind Florida, California, Texas, Georgia, and Ohio respectively

I think he'll pull kids from all over Alabama, and I think he'll pull kids from across the country that know they want to play in the SEC. It will give them the opportunity for more exposure and the proximity will aid in their own ability to visit multiple SEC schools

I want it to be successful.

Yeah they’ll take talent from AHSAA schools but they won’t be playing for a state title and the AHSAA won’t allow their schools to play them.

Rush is a POS but this is sure to be entertaining. They’ll end up with a network show about the program at some point.

People care about the "hell of a coach" part a lot more than the "bad human being" part.
