Just left Destin on Sunday and the water was definitely stronger than usual. Have some friends that grew up with Ryan in Texarkana and they always had good things to say about him, RIP.

Hopefully this brings some awareness to how dangerous it can be right now along the gulf. If Ryan Mallett can lose that battle there’s a 100% chance it can happen to you.

One of the units I own and rent is there. I’m a local. It’s terrible. We have had a record number of drownings this year.

I don't remember fully but he go his keys locked in a car at club hots in Fayetteville.

The locksmith got his keys and was writing down his bill. Mallett said, "do you know who I am?" The locksmith gave him his bill and said, "nope" and Mallett was arguing, trying not to pay the bill but apparently that didn't work.

His mother found out about it and was furious. She chewed him out.

So sad and very heartbreaking to see this senseless death. I live a few miles from this tragedy and I see people left and right ignoring the flags on the beach. 5 people have died in this area recently and still a lot of vacationers refuse to abide by the rules of the flags. The beach is beautiful but it is very unforgiving. If double flags are up, go to a pool, big kahunas or just walk the beach. Save yourself. RIP Ryan

RIP. That's absolutely horrible.

He could sling it. Really sling it. And every other fanbase hated him. Which is what you want from your QB, somebody the opponents can't stand. I say that with sincere respect. The guy made me very, very nervous.

Respect and regrets to Razorback nation, his family and friends.

We were just in Navarre over the weekend with some friends and small kids. We bailed from the gulf and took them over to the sound after about 3 hours. Not even 10 feet out and that water was pulling them and knocking them off their feet constantly. I had to grab my buddy’s little girl while holding onto mine as she was drifting quick. Hard to relax when I was on high alert constantly ready to run in at any moment. Very sad about Mallett. Waters have been extremely rough this summer.

This sounds like it was a red flag. It’s only been recently that it was acceptable for small children to go in the water on a red flag.

I’m not sure why families see a red flag and are like “oh wonderful, so glad it’s not a double red flag. You kiddos go have fun!”

I got to meet him during the Spring game in 2010 bc I was on the sidelines talking to my guy DMac who'd already got me past the ushers. Ive know him (we called him DDawg) since he was a High School senior thru a mutual friend- another OG Hog Keith Kidd.

Anyway, Mallett was such a stud even McFadden was acting like a fan. He they both talked about how if they'd been there together they could have won a natty. Would have been impossible to stop with any consistency with those two.

As a college QB yes but when comes to the NFL, Joe Ferguson had a much better career.

Ryan Mallett was the first QB to throw 3,000 plus yards in a regular season. Before that Arkansas ran heavy run offenses that didn't pass much.

This is so sad. The Gulf has been brutal for the past two weeks.

People really need to heed the local flag warnings and stay out of the water, the rip tides right now are no joke.

He could have returned for his senior year in 2011. Tyler Wilson was a good QB but he lacked the arm strength of Mallett that could throw all over the field.
