It depends on what you do for a living. I work on large, transport category aircraft, and am thankful it is not for Delta. And if it was for Delta, I'd rather use flight benefits and live in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida, or even Kansas than the Atlanta metro area. And I have relatives living in Temple, College Park, Fayetteville, and Villa Rica.

Temple was great 40 years ago when it took about 30 minutes to get into very much Atlanta traffic.

But you’re talking south Florida right? I guess Gainesville isn’t too far away

Gainesville isn’t that different from Oxford…

But Florida is a historically better job than Old Miss… sort of sucks because he could have built his own thing there. The Florida job makes too much sense though.

Doubt Lane would live in Gainesville proper.

He could live anywhere if he got a helicopter....or one of those new flying cars Elon's about to put out.

No income tax.

And UF has some freshwater to swim in.

FFS. Of coarse Florida is a better place to live. That's a no-brainer. It takes strength and gusty to live in Mississippi though. Florida makes people soft.

I get it but Gainesville isn’t Miami, Destin, Daytona, Sarasota, or the keys.

Nothing special. Just another inland city,

Unless you are a huge Tom Petty fan….

There is no way I would live in CA. And I have. CA is a place to visit, not live.

People think Gainesville is close to the coast. It is not

What percentage of Americans living in the lower 48, live within 1 to 1.5 hours of 2 coasts, let alone one.
The beach isn't that far.

STFU with this stupid shite.

Clearly you've never been to Gainesville.

Gainesville, FL = Valdosta, GA

Finally, someone with some knowledge. And Valdosta is a suburb of hell.

Well, I don't want to exclude Albany either.

About 40%, 140,000,000 U.S. citizens, live within two hours of the coast. There are 65,000,000 living in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Houston, Miami, Washington, and Philadelphia alone.

Yes, the majority of that population are in 5 states California, New York , Florida, New Jersey and Texas.

The numbers are less when counting only open ocean and excluding Great Lakes region + Hawaii.

Your main argument for Lane taking the Florida job is it is near the coast. Nothing about Gainesville is coastal. And it is not unusual for people to live within 2 hours of the coast.
