For the folks that would rather drive than fly, there are plenty of rest stops on I10 once you get into Florida. Plus it's the cleanest hundreds of miles of interstate that you'll ever see in the deep South.

Freeman has zero connections to Florida and I don’t think he would leave ND after just getting them to a championship game. He’s not DeBoer

If you get off the main roads, be ready for roundabouts. Lots and lots of roundabouts. Besides that, I like Gainesville.

Agree. I drove to Tampa this summer from Dallas. I kept commenting how clean the highway was, how clean the rest areas were and how everything was well maintained. Weird things to notice, but I did.

Been there in 06,08,10, 12 and 14.. parked in that field across from a McDs. Bars , restaurants, near the stadium, cool and unique stadium.

Adam’s BBQ - best BBQ in Gainesville
Relish - good burgers
Satchel’s Pizza - must for a pizza lover if your visiting Gainesville for the first time
Mothers Pub - good dive bar, cheap beer and burgers
Tijuana Flats - tacos and beer
Some of the youngins can chime in here, haven’t been back to campus in almost 10 years

Well at least on the first post I don't think anyone from Austin is going to be blown away by the bat house in Gainesville

If looking for something not available in Austin the right decision is to take an extra day and drive to the beach, New Smyrna or nearby.
