Personally looking forward to seeing what Kiffin can do in BR. All the bs aside, I see him doing quite well over the next 5 years.

Not being a fan entirely of LSU, I wouldn’t think it’s a big deal unless LSU loses 5 or more games this season.

But this Clemson team I don’t expect a lot from them either. I would expect Clemson to go 8-4 this year. I think LSU has to make it competitive but not necessarily win it.

How bad do you feel LSU needs to win game 1?

It will definitely tell us how ready Kiffin is with his team.

Ver much needed. We will likely be underdogs in 1-2 games after Clemson so have to start 1-0

For this season, it's huge. The schedule is way too difficult to lose games like this. For LSU to realistically be a playoff team, they likely have to go undefeated at home.

5 SEC road games won't be easy.

in terms of playoff consideration it depends on clemson's record at the end
if they go 8-4 yes it's a nightmare. if they wipe the ACC and LSU shaves it out wirh 2 or 3 losses then they're in with a clempson loss

A week one OOC game, you should be able to absorb the loss and gear up for week 2 and then the SEC.

But we are a 9 or so favorite and Clemson doesn’t have klubnik. Oh, and the national media and fans are currently turned against Lane.

It’s a must win for the majority of football enthusiasts.

One thing though, it’s game one of his tenure.

It’s not that important, but 38-14 LSU. Clemson is overrated and we will expose them this weekend. This is Dabo’s last season there.

I’ll never understand why LSU continues to schedule these hard out of conference games in week one while most of the league schedules cupcakes.

LSU will beat Clemson, and LSU will not lose 5 games this season. we got rid of Brian Kelly.

We had a cupcake game last night. We did the full game day experience last night. Beat the jv team dressed like Clemson. Good way to get some kinks out you normally have vs a cupcake team.

Its going to be HUGE. If they lose to a mediocre Clemson team they will be reeling right out of the gate.

La Tech won't be a pushover. They had 8 wins and won a bowl game last season. Then they get Ole Miss and the Aggies back-to-back. If they lose to the Rebs the fanbase will be in a uproar and the distraction-o-meter will be through the roof. If they have 3 losses going into that November stretch against Bama, Texas and Tenn, its going to be hard to salvage the season.

4 wins will cause alot of grumbling. 5 will end the honeymoon. 6 will put him on the hot seat.

Fans of all stripes will overreact to whatever happens week one.
I'm looking at the long-term ramifications of what is being built for sustainability. That's more important than a few losses in season one. I think it's ridiculous to say if he doesn't make the CFP the season is a disaster. That is just TV and Internet propaganda.

No doubt, it would be good to start the season with a win. Throw in against a decent opponent, it makes it better. The question is about how good Clemson really is. We all felt really good about the win last year and it was fool's gold. If we lose, it might not sting as badly if Clemson turns out to be a contender. There is a lost of momentum heading to week one so a win would do wonders for heading into Oxford with confidence. But, with so many new players, I'm not sure yet what to expect. I'd take a win in week one no matter how ugly it appears.

True

Sigh. Such a good start for you, but you went full retard.

I think LSU starts 2-0, loses at Ole Miss, and rebounds to beat a+m. I'll take that.

If LSU somehow wins at Ole miss, look out ...

LSU will beat Clemson by two touchdowns, and not because LSU will be that good week one, but Dabo is the single most overrated coach in NCAA history. Unless Brent Venables, Jeff Scott, and Trevor Lawrence show up Saturday, I expect a 31-17 type win for LSU.

We have come out the gates poorly so many years. Beating Clemson is important, but blowing their doors off would set off a media storm.
Darth Kiffin at LSU lighting up Dabo.

I think Venables stole signs btw. Legal or illegal I believe he did it at ClemPson

How LSU plays through the season should be more important than any one game. I'm sure that isn't the popular opinion for LSU, but it should be if looking at this objectively.

And I think LSU boatraces Clemson. Dabo is toast.

Correct, a loss to Clemson by LSU is a sure path to the playoff's for LSU. You people are great.

Important for their morale but it's not a very good Clemson team so it probably won't matter much either way.

Uh, I went "full retard" by quoting a fact? Huh?
