The lines of delineation are clear in the NFL about what constitutes as an NFL player and what doesn't. The SEC and Sankey admitted they don't know.
An NFL player is defined as a player who is on the roster during the regular season. If so, he is considered an NFL player. If a player participated in mini camps and played in the preseason and didn't make the team, he is not considered an NFL player. Being on a pre-season roster doesn't allow you any of the benefits of the regular season rostered guys.
The SEC got spanked in court yesterday. The NCAA would also get spanked. Deal with it. LSU isn't going anywhere.

Show us in writing where it says “signed a contract” is the delineation for being a pro.
Hint: It doesn’t exists which is exactly why Sankey and their lawyers couldn’t differentiate between an amateur and professional, under oath.

You are wrong on this.
NCAA was in court, did have their lawyers and also got spanked when Jason Williams could not explain what amateurism is.

Look it up bitch. You have to play three season to get an NFL pension and if you aren't on a regular season roster then you don't get any accredited time' Preseason rosters mean nothing.

Previously declared for the NFL, NBA or WNBA draft and did not appropriately withdraw.
Signed a contract with an NFL (or other professional football league), NBA/G League, or WNBA (or affiliate) team.
Been listed on an NFL (or other professional football league), NBA/G League, or WNBA (or affiliate) roster.

Man, I'm really going to miss you guys when LSU gets expelled from the conference (for continued cheating).

Except they then went on to say players participating in Mini camps aren’t considered pros, but guess what? They signed a contract to participate and receive per diem.
So it sounds like signing a contract isn’t actually the line, it’s signing a certain type of contract that they didn’t bother to specify.

The issue here is that, which we've covered extensively, is that even mini camp attendees sign a participation agreement. While not covered under the NFLPA CBA, NFL teams use it for all attendees because it covers liability, media waivers, compensation and expense reimbursement. So technically, they did sign a "contract" with an NFL team.
Then Sankey gets on the stand and says, not those contracts, he doesn't consider that to be a "contract".
It was lazily put together by the SEC and member orgs, which is fricking embarrassing since these people run a massive organization and have shite loads of lawyers at their disposal.
The AAC did a better job with their policy and i bet their commissioner could even articulate it with consistency if asked. Shocking i know.

So was Fernando Mendoza not an NFL player this summer, even during the preseason games he played in?

OK? They (the SEC and every member) own that definition. But it is in writing.

No, it’s not. That’s the point.
No where does it say “NFL mini camps are excluded from the rule”. Its a blanket covering all contracts, which include mini camps.
Until Sankey got on the stand and said, “Oh no, THOSE contracts don’t count”.

You are missing the whole point. The SEC set a rule. It has a right to enforced its rule whether you agree with it or not.
You join a country club. You don't like a rule. You try to get other members to help change the rule. If it doesn't get changed you have 2 options. Deal with it or leave and find a new country club. You don't get it sue and say its a dumb rule. The rule is the rule and the SEC has every right to enforce its rule. The courts will confirm this in due time.

They did. Any player who signed “a contract” with the NFL cannot come back to an SEC program.
They then allowed several players to do just that, blowing up their own rule in the process.

Nope. If he would have been cut after the 3rd preseason game, he would not have been considered an NFL player. He wouldn't have officially been part of the team. He would have been considered a tryout.
Look at the guys who try out for 3 different teams in 3 years and never make the regular season roster. Are they NFL players? Nope.

There is a difference in per diem for NFL mini camps and NBA summer league and signing a pro contract. Those are not contracts. They are living expenses during a "tryout". That's a huge difference and what y'all refuse to acknowledge.
Which is why the SEC rule was so detailed and who could play and who couldn't. So when it came to court they had their ducks in a row.
