This is overstated. Hicks looked like shite in the spring, and Starkel's stats aren't anything to write home about. His only wins were against Ole Miss, New Mexico, Louisiana-Monroe and Northwestern State. He had mop up duty against ULM and NWSU and didn't start. He lost every other game he played in.

So you think Starkel is on par with Storey and Kelly?

I don't think you put stats into context very well.

Hicks had more TDs than the 3 we played at QB last season. Honestly I'd be interested in Hicks starting out. Keep hearing big things about Fr QB KJ. Cant stop hearing about him recently, lots of praise dual threat.

We will be infinitely better this year because of QB play.

I'd rather play KJ than Hicks as he is the QB of Morris' job at Arkansas honestly. He looks damn good in limited practice film too.

Starkel comes back and is the objectively better QB from a talent standpoint. Morris will have a tough decision down the road if he starts Hicks, Starkel will catch up. I hope Chad is smarter than that.

No, I just don't think it will be some "huge" improvement, especially with a worse O-line.

Huge improvement is subjective. The point is we just sent our two former starting QB’s to trash programs, while acquiring system and conference experience. It will most certainly be an improved QB situation, use your adjectives of choice.

No clue how you figure the O line takes a step back.

Lotta butt-fukking and drinking to kill the pain.

Rumor (I say rumor to give Bret a break) is he developed an aggressive drinking habit while here

That's a joke, right? He was a prolific partier while as Wisconsin at least as far back as when we played them in the Capital One Bowl. Nothing new there.

Prolific partier when you win. Spiraling alcoholic when you lose. I'm not saying he all the sudden started boozing when he moved to Fayetteville, but it was consistently gossiped about as an issue.

Lost three starters, remaining starters plus a couple new starters didn't practice in the spring due to injury. Depth is all freshmen.

Yeah I get losing starters but Froholdt may be the only one we miss. The collective unit last season was the worst I've seen in a long time. A year under the returning player's belts in a new scheme should help.

From a statistically standpoint, he really is without question but yeah if people suck around him it won't be "much" better.

I can understand arguments for the Oline not being any better but don't think its reasonable to assume it will be worse.

Campbell went 3-9 his first year at Iowa State, don't see how he would have done much better than 2-10 in 2018 then you'd be saying the same thing about him right now.

No, because Campbell actually has a track record and decent resume, such as a Coach of the Year in a P5 conference. Unlike Morris' track record of losing season after losing season.

Probably based on Arkansas having our worst year ever last year, and UK having their best. You lost several of your top players last year, and will fall off a bit this year(maybe? we'll see).

Thanks for the good discussion everyone.

I'm a bit surprised it ended up being a lot of arky v arky folks, but it gives the rest of us some perspective.
