Honestly believed this kid could take some summer classs to try to get eligible, but it just be a lost cause. Even if his SAT score is falling short, I thought there was another testing well before fall semester starts.
Oh well. Hopefully he does well at CC and can come here in a couple of years.

Exactly this. Dude likely wasn’t going to qualify as an in-state kid at either school in Mississippi, so I’m not sure why there was any certainty he’d qualify for a higher out of state admission standard. At this point Florida better hope Merlins still has some solid connections in the Mississippi JUCOs

Yes he could. He has spoken publicly MANY times since then in interviews, and specials, and he talks just fine. Williams is a good kid, with a good head on his shoulders, and is probably a lot less judgmental than most of the folks on here.
And shame on anyone that is talking shite and making fun of this kid. He probably comes from the dregs of society, and he is clearly very interested in bettering himself. Its not as easy for some people. Some of you need to remember that.

I get the state of public education in our country but how in this Hell does this kid even get to the 12th grade?
What God forsaken HS did this kid go to?
Not blaming the kid or making fun of him but wasn't there q coach or teacher who cared enough about the guy to help him with some basic skills?

Luckily he's still got plenty of time to redeem himself. Just looking at that thread he has a lot of encouraging messages of support as well.

Reggie F’n Nelson went to JUCO as well and got his grades right to come play for the Gators. Worked out pretty well for him, hopefully Diwun can do the same.

Whoever taught this kid in HS (in any class that requires basic writing skills) should be placed on suspension immediately.

Reminds me of Leonard Pope.
This is why college sports is so great. It allows a kid like this one last chance (whether at the JC level or major college level) to get some semblance of an education. Clearly the high schools failed him. Hopefully he can get set up with some tutors and advisors that truly care in an effort to get him on the right track.
