This kind of feels like Tennessee fans talking about Nico when they were undefeated when Nico wasn't the actual reason they were winning games.
Well if we start guaranteeing that Lagway will win the Heisman you can intervene.
For now we just see an upgrade and are happy with that

The biggest issue by far still is Napier calls offensive plays. Hopefully the rumors are true and he hires Pitt's OC (Kerwin Bell's son) after the season.
As a Valdosta State grad, I saw him call plays at VSU for several years.
Absolute killer instinct.
The one knock I had against him was that he would not protect leads late in games when he could have run out the clock.

Lagway is still only a few weeks removed from a pretty serious hamstring injury. While he’s not the fastest guy out there, he was rated the #1 dual threat qb out of high school for a reason and the qb-run threat is a big part of his game. He’s basically been playing solid football without all his tools at his disposal (and with opposing defenses knowing this). His willingness to throw downfield has also opened up the run game that struggled mightily with Mertz.
As far as Napier, I’m cautiously optimistic but he still hasn’t won any big road games. He’s getting a lot of props for his players not quitting on him, but Beamer, Freeze, and Venables all have their guys playing hard despite a disappointing start for their seasons. Not sure why Napier’s future is any brighter than theirs.
The only coach that actually has had players quit on him seems to be Norvell.

I see other freshmen like Reed at A&M and Sellers at SC as well ahead of Lagway to be honest.
Lagway is a true freshmen
So that shouldn’t be surprising
I do think the Disney crowd is way overhyping Lagway but he has done well for a true freshman and seems to have some intangibles that spark the rest of the team when he’s playing as you say “leadership qualities “

He is playing at 80% and can’t run, which is a big part of his game.

Lagway is the real deal. He had some mind blowing throws as he was being sacked by sometimes two of our NFL caliber defensive lineman. That would have been a sack or fumble for every other QB in the SEC and he turned them into first downs.

No point in arguing with DawninSC. He genuinely thinks DJ getting hurt had no impact on the UGA UF. This is who you’re dealing with.

DawginSC, you are purely looking at aggregate stats and drawing conclusions from them. There are a number of reasons why people are excited about Lagway
1. He's playing competently at QB, making multi progression reads and correctly identifying defenses pre snap as a true freshman. He's not running a paired down version of this offense. He's already fully in command. This is exceedingly rare from a true freshman.
2. He's the #1 rated QB in the country according to PFF on throws 20+ yards down field. This is honestly incredible from a true freshman and unlike what Mertz brings to the offense, allows the run game to excel more due to the consistent threat of being beat deep.
3. He had a grade 2 hamstring strain and was trying to play 7 days later. He actually played 14 days later and led his team to victory against a top 25 team.
4. His ability to make off platform throws in disrupted pockets is amongst best college

What impressed me about Lagway was his strength and pocket presence.
There were a couple plays where we got pressure and got to him and hit him and he didn’t go down extended the play and got the first down.
That’s a sack against most teams we’ve played.

I genuinely think we win if DJ doesn't get hurt. We were winning when he got hurt, and although he might not have been perfect, he was consistently moving the ball and giving them problems through the air and on the ground. It's either ignorance or trolling to say that DJ getting hurt had no real impact on the outcome of the game, my vote is on the latter.

Lagway should be a stud the next couple years if he continue to develop.
Yep. Kids a good quarterback. He made a couple passes yesterday that I still have no idea how he even got the ball off, much less completed the pass downfield. If he continues... and gets some good pieces around him to work with... Florida could be something that will have to be not taken lightly.

UF got a lot of momentum heading into 2025.
Napier will find a way to fk it up. no doubt.
The players had to go to the coaches to have changes made on defense.
Lagway is only playing because of Mertz injury. Dumb arse Napier had mediocre Mertz pegged as his guy no matter what. pre-injury.
Baugh and Jackson would’ve been buried under bench if not for injury.
Napier loves to play tenured guys even if the younger ones are better.
His boring, basic offense needs to be tossed in the bushes.
The players are playing hard but shouldn’t any good coach have their players playing hard. why wait for your seat to be the hottest in America first.
Napier doesn’t have IT. never had, never will.
If UF wants 7-5 or maybe the occasional 8 win season, Napier is the guy.
