There's no way McElwain walks away from $11 Million if the only "cause" is him making false claims of death threats.

And there's no way Sexton let's him walk away from $11 Million if that's all they have. He'd never sign another client.

There's something else going on here, something very bad.

Mac doesn't have a choice. They had cause based on fraud/dishonesty.

Hugh Freeze walked away from $12.5 million a few months ago. Jimmy Sexton quietly accepts surrendering $22+ million.. Sounds reasonable

Pretty difficult to prove.

Maybe they have a full video of the shark incident.

naw man; this isn't about the money

Jim is just doing what he thinks is in the best interest of the kids

plus, he is also showing gratitude to UF for all they have done for him

it's probably just as simple as that - right?

There has to be more to it. Jimmy Sexton himself would have penned a death threat to Coach Mac and keep it on file if he thought that would be a threat to the $12 million buy-out

If I had to guess, it has something to with the credit card scandal. No way that many players are involved and the coaching staff is just oblivious to it.

Speculative at best.

Maybe Mac was doing coke lines with Chris Foerster. You know these Florida coaches like to party!

I agree. This is the first year that Mac won't win the East, which I know isn't a huge accomplishment, but that's more than a lot of coaches can say.

I think they have a shark that is prepared to go on record.

It's clear you don't know what the word fraud means.

As far as dishonesty goes, even if he completely made the death threats up, that can't be proven, and wouldn't invalidate the buyout.

Florida either has something on him (like Freeze), or they're paying out a hell of a lot more than is being speculated.

More likely this. He probably tried to cover it up.

The people who think this has anything to do with death threats are idiots.

Not if you have a competent Athletic Director.

or CJM has another deal already lined up that would invalidate a big part of the buyout anyway

bottom line; something here is off - does not pass "smell test"

I'm just trying to figure out how Calloway remained on the team even in a suspended fashion.
Maybe they went back to some more of that situation.

What's it like to have one of those? We haven't had one since Dickey
