That's why the AD isn't being trusted to make this hire and is pretty much just a middleman with a little input. The Cal hire was pretty much done FOR him just like this will be. This same AD had Kiffin in the bag and signed until OM upped the offer by relatively little, and he personally decided he didn't want to get in a bidding war even though he had the green light to do so from the admin and BoT.

An upgrade from Pittman, yes. But there's dozens of coaches out there that are upgrades from Pitt without the baggage and connections to Pittman's staff.
The worries are his lack of recruiting chops, his burning down of Louisville after his second stint, and ability to hire a staff that isn't made up of his family and friends. Nobody wants to work under him because he's a demanding a-hole.
That being said, as the floor of our coaching search we could do a lot worse. At the most he would get a short contract with minimal pay and practically no buyout, so he could be used to bridge the gap for a few years until there's not so many other openings

Seems like more coaches getting fired in season, has to be due to nil i guess? If not that what other reason could it be?

Florida isn't what they think they are. They have won consistently under two coaches. Firing Napier won't change that.

Yall act like good coaches are plentiful. Florida is just needs a competent coach and they’re a playoff team.

Florida learned the hard way that waiting too long to fire a coach can bite you. Same reason James Franklin was fired last week…you can’t afford to have the coach go on a winning streak that puts lipstick on a pig of a season.
