I just told you it is 19 total. We get to drop our worst sport on the women's side and have to take 2 zeros on the men's side because we don't have 10 sports. We count 18 sports where Stanford gets to drop their worst 4 on the men's and women's side both.

This inequitable standard diminishes the importance of the Director's Cup for me. Unless reforms are made that group similar athletic programs, I can't see the D Cup serving a useful purpose. Stanford's "domination" is an illusion.

How so? They have men's and women's teams in every-damn-thing and are rewarded for it, as they should be. How would you score it differently?

Stanford dominates because they dominate low team sports like Tennis and Golf. How many tennis or golf type teams can be constructed to fill the same number void as a sport like football which has the highest players on a team.
Here is Stanford's sports success :
Men's
Tennis (18)
Water polo (11)
Golf (8)
Swimming & diving (8)
Gymnastics (5)
Cross country (4)
Outdoor track & field (4)
Baseball (2)
Basketball (2)
Football (2)
Volleyball (2)
Women's
Tennis (18)
Swimming & diving (9)
Synchronized swimming (7)
Volleyball (6)
Cross country (5)
Water polo (3)
Basketball (2)
Rowing (1)
Soccer (1)

Are you sure you're not dropping 2 women. I'm pretty sure I read UF had at least 20.

I applaud those programs.
I wish there was a way to measure an all-sports trophy without giving equal weight to football and equestrian, but there's no way to do this without heavy subjectivity and bias. So...props.

Like I said when the SEC All Sports Trophy was announced, "There is a new 2nd best athletic department in the SEC, TAM."
The other 12 and the rest of the Big 6 better take note. There is a new kid on the block and he is stealing your lunch money.

Bama has never finished ahead of Tennessee in the Director's Cup standings. 21 straight years of athletic dominance.

The funniest part of it is the Director's Cup has been around for 29 years. It would appear statistics are not FGFI's strong suit.
