Chad Jones attempts a dirty hit on Joe

However, Chad bit off more than he could chew, as Joe Adams is back up within 5 seconds. 30 seconds later Chad is still struggling to regain his balance.

This was after Joe impacted the ground without a helmet.

3 plays later Joe catches what would have been the game winning TD, without ref interference allowing LSU to drive back down the field.

Shortly after, Chad Jones announced his retirement from football.

You mean after he almost had his legs amputated from a horrific car crash? Well yea, he did.

Chad Jones killed Joe Adams...twice. The fact that you find pride in the fact that Joe got up quicker is embarrassing. That is some inferiority complex shite right there.

LSU fans like to post this illegal hit to a player who had a stroke a month before as some sort of bragging point

They always clip out the immediate aftermath though

Jones was selected in the third round of the NFL draft and the 9th round of the MLB draft, but his career was ended by injuries sustained in an auto accident. Incredible athlete.

Not sure how many others have won a national title in both football and baseball.

I felt so bad for Chad after his injury. Thankfully this play is now illegal

Although flagged at the time, I still dont think this was an illegal hit or dirty. The rules back then only outlawed leading with the helmet and helmet to helmet. There was no defenseless player rule or anything like that.

I see a clear lead with the shoulder. Clean play. Hard hit but clean play in my book.

The QB kinda set Adams up to get killed.

Nice try but that picture is clearly not the moment of initial contact, as the helmet is already gone and not even in the frame

Jones was obviously doing the twist during that tackle.

You’re a fricking moron.

Watch it again at 1/4 speed. Chad's left foot never leaves green. He was already stopping. The hit was as violent as it was because the WR was airborne at the time.

Not a dirty hit. Good on the WR for making the catch, even though his QB tried to kill him. Was that Russel or Mallet?
