In reading my reply I noticed that we pronounce Pass Christian the same way you would pronounce the first part of Christianity. Not sure if this is relevant, but interesting word play either way.
"Nicholas Christian Ladner (1727-1800) moved from Mobile to Cat Island in 1745 where he raised cattle. In 1758 he married Marianne Paquet (1742-1811) from New Orleans and they produced eleven children. One daughter married a Spanish soldier, Juan Cuevas (1762-1849). These settlers on Cat Island are the ancestors of many of the present-day inhabitants of Hancock and Harrison Counties. Two channels in the Mississippi Sound, Pass Christian and Pass Marianne, are named after this first couple. The town of Pass Christian bears the same name as one of the aforementioned channels."

Thank you for the response. I have been having similar anger issues with big emotional reactions to things that should not bother me. Like the way my wife will say things to me I will perceive as a dig or attitude that sets me off and then looking back on it, I have no idea why it upset me so much.

Mental health improvements on TRT?

Posted by BRbornandraised on 11/25/24 at 10:25 am
Got my testosterone test results back at 385. Haven't spoken with my doctor yet about the results, but I saw where anything below 300 is low. Im 33, 5'9", 180lbs, around 13.5-14.5% body fat (hand tested), lifting weights 4 days a week, running 15 miles a week, biking 15-20 miles a week, also pickup soccer once a week. 2 weeks ago I hit a 10k PR of 53 minutes. I quit drinking alcohol in April and have been eating very clean since than (keto for 3 months then slowly incorporated good carbs back into my diet).

0 problem with drive in both the bedroom and gym. But I have been having alot of anxiety and depression lately which I read can be symptoms of low T. I did go through some pretty traumatic stuff last year and most likely have some undiagnosed PTSD from it, but i have never in my life been anxious or depressed before. My cholesterol also came back outside of normal ranges (225 total, 39 HDL, LDL 162) despite my good diet and workout routine, which I read can correlate with low T.

I know a bunch of guys on here have gotten on TRT, did you wait until your levels were below 300 before pursuing it? I know my levels will only get lower as I age, so is it worth looking into getting on now or waiting some years? What were the effects on your mental health?

That’s bullshite because the heart is the one organ in your body that doesn’t heal. It’s also the reason the heart doesn’t get cancer.

This is absolute 100% bullshite. The heart can heal itself. Before you come in here telling me to do my research, my son had myocarditis so I have first hand knowledge of this. Also a quick google search shows you are lying or ignorant.

re: Zone 2 Training (running)

Posted by BRbornandraised on 8/23/24 at 3:11 pm
Ive heard it described like building a pyramid. Zone 2 is the foundation and decides how big the base footprint of the pyramid is. Vo2 max and high heartrate training is how tall it is. So you can increase the total volume of the pyramid (your fitness) either way, but its good to do both.

Im not a doctor, but from what i understand vo2 max is how efficiently and quickly your heart can pump oxygen to your muscles to be used, doing those high max heartrate workouts works your heart to be more efficient and quicker. Zone 2 training increases the volume of oxygen/blood with each pump.

Zone 2 is also good for recovery, you can do it consistently almost every day, and its harder to get injured doing zone 2. Most people need to go way slower than they think for zone 2 (conversational pace). Zone 2 tends to use fat for fuel as opposed to muscle or liver glycogen (think carbs) which is used for fuel in anaerobic exercise (high intensity). Phil Maffetone is kind of the godfather of this training all the way back to the late 70s. I would start listening to his podcast interviews.

I have been skewing more towards zone 2 in 70-80% of my runs.

Congrats. Sobriety is amazing. 4 years for me. Never felt better.

Congrats to you too! I have never felt better and the crazy part is that I don't really miss drinking at all anymore. I thought I would really struggle alot more than I have. My goal was to make it to 4th of july and be sober to lose weight but it became such a non factor I figure just go to the end of the year and see how things are going then. It helps that I moved to a different city in March and have a whole new routine with 0 drinking buddies in my neighborhood. Down to around 14% body fat from 21% beginning of this year.
I’ve had a similar GP before, except mine was a sea hawk. Paid around that for it 4 or 5 years ago and only put around $25 into it for a new plexiglass crystal since the old one was cracked. Sold it in 2022 for $275. It was always in great working order. I would pass on this one. Looks like it will need a lot of work. Main reason I sold it is because it was just too damn small at like 33mm case size. This one looks similar size. Pic of one of my listing photos

Incline bench & incline fly. I keep bench around 30 degrees for bench. My front delts start to jump in when I go higher. For the flies, I prefer using cables so that I can keep tension on the muscle at the top of the rep. Go full range of motion on both and really stretch pecs at the bottom of the rep.

This. Only thing I would clarify is using dumbells on incline bench to really get that pec stretch where the dumbell touches your front delt

I have been sober since April and had 0 soft drinks since then until a couple weeks ago when my wife bought a case of coke zeros. Now I will have about one a week, usually on a Friday with dinner. It a great treat that I dont feel guilty about.

Everything in moderation.
Anything past 10 is up late. Anything past 12 is up too late. But I wake up at 5:20 most days.

Cutting carbs while staying in a caloric deficit helped me get to my goal weight. It was an easy diet. It worked for me. Now that I know how to take care of myself through CICO, exercising, and food tracking, I don't feel bad in the slightest for eating some pasta or other carbs.

I did this exactly. Now its just a lifestyle change and I pretty much get all my carbs from fruit and veggies during the week with rice occasionally mixed in. This leaves me available the night before a long weekend run to eat my hearts desire in rice/pasta/bread/cereal.
I love video games, but now in my 30s with 2 kids, full time job, and finding time to workout, I just really don't have time or make it a priority in my free time. I haven't played a game in over a year. As people get older priorities change and people find fulfillment/stress relief in other ways. If videos games is your outlet and you have the time for it, do it until you are 70.

I think the "grown men shouldn't play video games" should really be "grown men shouldn't prioritize video games if they have other responsibilities"
Just misread the title. I was thinking its sad to see the hero who won us the 1996 CWS being put through this.

Start doing DIPS. If you cant do a dip on your own use an elastic band to help. If you cannot do any with an elastic band, start doing decline bench. They will help target your lower pec. If you have never done any type of weightlifting, start by just doing some bench press with dumbbells until you get the technique of it all. Youtube is your friend with learning proper lifting technique and form. Dr. Mike Israetel and Jeff Nippard are usually pretty good about teaching form and technique.

This would be in the running if I only had a one watch collection.
