Lot of folks did not read the article. This is concerning the contingency fund in place for SNAP. The USDA says it can’t legally tap into it to continue SNAP funding since the underlying appropriation has lapsed. Others (including this judge) believe that’s not the correct interpretation of the statute concerning the contingency fund and that it CAN be used in this scenario.

The whole argument revolves around how you interpret the legal language around this contingency fund.

Exactly. The current administration/GOP has spent the last ~12 months putting a thumb in the left’s eye at every possible opportunity. You’re delusional if you don’t think the filibuster gets nuked day 1 of a 51 seat democrat senate. “Norms” mean nothing in this political landscape.

Moreover, if the current talking points are to be believed, what chance do the democrats even have of sniffing a congressional majority within the next generation? If:

- they’re losing millions of illegal voters due to deportations
- they’re losing any other avenues of election rigging due to this election integrity commission
- maybe most importantly, they’re hugely unpopular and seen as weak

What’s there to worry about? Nuke the filibuster, re-open the government, and start fast-tracking all the changes that will deliver us to a golden age

Yea these results shouldn’t surprise anyone given how this poll seems to have been worded. Take a step out of your own mind and step into that of the average American brought up through the public education system. You see the word “slavery” and don’t immediately consider it in the global sense but rather in the context of the Atlantic slave trade generally and slavery in America more specifically.

Yea Chemistry is an all or nothing degree basically. Get your PhD and do big-time research and it's worth it. Anything short of a PhD narrows your career prospects significantly.

I had the same realization as a freshman 15 years ago and swapped to ChemE cause I realized I had no desire to stay in school that long. One of the best decisions I've ever made.
