The first practical TV sets were demonstrated and sold to the public at the 1939 World's Fair in New York. The sets were very expensive and New York City had the only broadcast station. When World War II started, all commercial production of television equipment was banned.

SEC Football Related because no College Football games were on TV that year. Therefore.. yep.. you guessed it.

No one outside the stadium saw the SEC Champ and #2 ranked Tennessee Volunteers play in the Rose Bowl or the SEC Runner Up #5 Tulane lose in the Sugar Bowl 14-13.

This was a LONG TIME AGO though..

In fact, the Civil War that started in 1861 was 78 years old in 1939..

So yeah.. the Civil War is closer to 1939 than 1939 is to today.

Things that make you go hmmm..

There were still Civil War veterans around having reunions and such.

The kid on the left of the photo died in like 2012 as a very old man.

Last year was so nice when most of the longhorn fans, including OP, tucked tail and disappeared on this rant from October through the spring. Wonder how long they’ll hang around this season? Maybe another loss to Kansas will send them scurrying along again….

Losing to Kansas in 2022 is better than losing to App State in 2022.

On the other hand, I kinda like that everyone knows who the 1939 National Champion in College Football was.

The more publicity, the better. No one can name here off the top of their head who it was in 1938 or 1940 or 1920 or 1960 or 1990. But they DAMN SURE CAN NAME WHO WON THE WHOLE THING IN 1939!

I know my post is Germans, but Germany already had broadcast TV for the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin.

The world's one and only dildo parade occurred where? You guessed it ... Austin Texas on the campus of tu. The only dildo parade that has ever occurred in history.

And to immortalize the parade for history, they placed a dildo nicknamed "Big Boy" in the Student Activity Center for all the rest of the world to come visit and pay homage to this historic event.

How did we go from the history of TV to dildos?

Never mind, I see your school affiliation.
