SEC should only add schools from Virginia and North Carolina. They are the only virgin markets left in the Southern region.

The model has shifted.. it isn’t about the TV footprint in a state any longer.. it’s about matchups and eyeballs to watch a game.

Who brings better matchups?

FSU or Clemson or Miami vs Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, etc.

or

Any school in NC or Virginia vs the same schools

That’s just one example.

Where it gets interesting is when you are deciding between an Oklahoma State and West Virginia and NC State or Virginia Tech. That’s a much harder decision.

FSU and Clemson have many viewers for sure, including opposing fans from their in-State rival schools. So some of those eyeballs are duplicates. There would be no duplicity in adding a Virginia and North Carolina school. And their brand does not matter. The fans in those States will be thrilled to be in the SEC and will watch their teams no matter the records.

While I am happy that it will be more about matchups, why do feel it’s about matchups and not tv footprint?

If this is true, and take it with the usual grain of salt you get from these reports... turn out the lights, the party is over.

We would must assuredly be headed to the Big 10 (20? 24?) and the SEC. And then everything else would be a glorified FCS team.

The problem the ACC has is that while it is a solid conference... there are no expansion opportunities. Maybe you add ECU? Because you don't have enough Carolina teams? Who from Florida? Maryland left. Rutgers is Big 10.

Do you want... ahem... rob the MAC? Take a team from the Sunbelt? Steal someone from the we don't want to go on the cart American conference? Navy? Army?

Like the Big 12 they are being crowded out.

If the SEC were to go to 24 teams.. this is what I would choose.

Alabama + 1
Auburn + 2
LSU + 3
Ole Miss + 8
Ms State + 9
Arkansas + 4

Georgia + 2
Florida + 5
Tennessee + 1
Kentucky + 9
S. Carolina + 6
Vanderbilt + 8

Texas + 4
Texas A&M + 3
Oklahoma + 12
* Ok State + 10
Missouri + 11
* Kansas + 7

* FSU + 5
* Clemson + 6
* Miami + 12
* West Virginia + 10
* Va Tech + 11
* UNC or Duke + 7

Play your division
Play your perm (number)
Play some sort of rotation on the rest

Who isn’t happy with that setup?

TX and OU to the SEC would never happen and UCLA and USC to the Big 10 was ridiculous until they both did. If you think Clemson and FSU are going to stick with their small payouts for 10 years, you're crazy. ESPN wants to split college football with Fox. Both sell ads at a premium without the threat of Congress and a monopoly breakup.

I really hope the alignment in the SEC stops for awhile or forever as I’m looking forward to this 16 team conference. I think this conference in all sports is unmatched. It just means more.

It was a mistake letting in Texas, they will poison the SEC like they did the Big 12. SEC will end up imploding themselves letting in these other schools. We need to do a Forrest Gump seats taken to the ACC schools.

We poisoned the Big 12 by kicking Nebraska and Texas A&M's asses so badly they couldn't stomach it anymore.

Aggy and Sooner voted with Texas on everything. All three are the same.
