I'm thinking the SEC and Big 10 split the prize and break away from the NCAA.

the upcoming conference realignment starts to manifest, one group of ACC schools appears to be considering alternative means of continuing forward on their own.

According to Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, Clemson, Florida State, Miami, UNC, NC State, Virginia and Virginia Tech have joined forces to meet with lawyers and determine whether it's possible to break free of the current ACC grant-of-rights. The current ACC deal runs through 2036.

The ACC was the one Power Five conference that did not see any additions or losses in the recent round of expansions. The Big 12 has already added four schools in anticipation of losing Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC, while the Big Ten will be taking UCLA and USC from the Pac-12.

It seems safe to say that the departure of those seven schools would be a massive financial blow to the ACC. It might even be a fatal one.

In losing Clemson, FSU and Miami, the ACC would lose their three biggest football powerhouses. Losing the teams from North Carolina and Virginia would also cripple their basketball numbers too.

As prolific as Duke basketball is, it wouldn't be able to carry the ACC for long.

But all of this is just speculation for the time-being. For all we know the seven schools will look at their options and find that staying in the ACC is best for their short- and long-term financial security.

Still, this is a situation that could change in the blink of an eye.

Miami and/or fsu, clem, unc, and virgina to the big 10

Nc st, vt, miami or fsu to the sec

A new top division of college football is being created and its going to be 60 or less teams. It's being driven by tv money and these additions make sense viewership wise(no crossover fans ex. Fsu/Florida sec already has most of fsu viewership numbers save for same time kickoffs in real games)

AAU Schools Available

Oregon
Washington
California
Stanford
Colorado
Arizona
Utah
UNC
Duke
Virginia
Kansas
Ga Tech
Pittsburgh

The B1G will choose who they want from this list. I don’t think they will have anyone enter that isn’t AAU. Nebraska is the one school who isn’t.. but they were AAU when they entered…

unless their name is..

Notre Dame

That’s 30 teams if they take them all.

Longshot AAU schools
Rice
Tulane

That leaves these schools for the SEC + whoever the B1G doesn’t want

FSU
Clemson
NC State
Va Tech
Miami
W Virginia
Ok State
BYU
Baylor
TCU
Tech
Louisville
Cincinnati
Arizona State

That is 30 teams if they both maxed out.

Longshots
Iowa State
Kansas State
Washington State
Oregon State
Boise State
Syracuse
Connecticut
Boston College
Army
Navy
Wake Forest

I realize most of these will not find a home.. juat listing all possible options. I have no idea what the end number is..

Problem is ACC has no leverage
Those teams that want a bigger piece of the pie like Clemson and Fla St are highly dependent on the SEC and Big 10 to fix it for them
I think at the end of the day the Big 10 will get schools like Oregon and Washington and the SEC will end up with schools like Fla St and Clemson

and then you have to figure out duke and UNC, etc

I wasn’t making any predictions on who either would take.. just listing the pool of teams that the B1G could take.. and the pool of teams that the SEC could take.

UNC for example
I have read that they would prefer to be in the B1G. If fhe B1G passed for some reason, I would think that they would be pretty high on the SEC’s list. Not exactly a leftover imo.

SEC should only add schools from Virginia and North Carolina. They are the only virgin markets left in the Southern region.

FSU would be a better addition than any school from those states.
