Kenyan Drake to me is probably the best example I've seen at least recently. Dude breaks leg one year and had to sit out the entire rest of the year. Next year, he partially breaks arm and has to sit out a few games until the national championship.

He then takes a kickoff return 95 yards and makes arguably (outside the onside kick) the defining play of the championship which ALSO got him stamped on the final CFB Sports Illustrated cover of that season.

I've always pulled for Kenyan Drake. I know he has ridiculous talent. Anyone can see that. But you can also see that he is very hard on himself. Every time he got injured I felt bad for him cuz I knew all he wanted was to get drafted and be able to show off that talent he has. It all ended up working out though. Good for him.

Edit: and my pick would probably be Tyrann Mathieu. I was afraid that he might have messed up his entire career but if you're as good at football as he is then sooner or later he will get paid.

I cheer for Georgia so I'm not sure anyone qualifies.

ETA: DJ Shockley is a decent one I guess

Not football but I certainly enjoyed seeing Tim Hudson win a ring with the Giants.

Mathieu is one of my favorite NLF players. He's not all that athletic and he doesn't have much height but that kid can ball.

The 2003/2004 class for UK Football. They came into the program while it was on fairly serious probation (lots of scholarship reductions, post season ban, etc) with a 4-8 record their freshman season. In their senior season they managed to beat a #1 team (LSU) for the second time in school history, beat their rival (Louisville) when ranked in the Top 10, and beat Florida State in the Music City Bowl. They were also ranked as high as #8 that season as well. Finished with an 8-5 record.

Should have been drafted higher than that. He will be the best receiver from that class.
