I have 2 things:

1- This is a shout out to Bama fans that frequent this board going to the game November 5th! Should be a memorable event to say the least. I have visited around the league and Bama is my favorite road trip, largely due to the beauty of the campus, the rich traditions, the intensity of the game, and the class of the Bama faithful (as a whole). Looking forward to a great day on campus, and a historic Primetime tilt with my teenage son.

2- Could anyone in the know help a visitor with best parking option(s)? Is it worthwhile to pay $25 online to park at student health center which appears quite far or will there be closer, cheaper parking on Sat morning? Plan to arrive about 9:30am from Birmingham.

Go to Central High School ($20) and park behind the school in people's yard for $10. They watch your car, stop traffic to let you out, and have hotdogs and cokes available for sale after the game

I hear they've cleared land for a lot more parking lots this year, but many of them are not near the stadium.

I live in Northport right across the river from downtown Tuscaloosa. I always park in downtown right around the start of the strip. It's free parking and while it's a little bit of a walk, I don't have any trouble getting into traffic and am usually back home within 15 minutes. I'm sure that someone will probably have a better suggestion but that's the one that I go with every weekend that I'm out there.

If you're not familiar with it, the area I'm talking about is the area around the University Blvd / Queen City Ave intersection.

25.00 for student health center?!

That's hella good IMO I'm from here. Central is a much further walk.

The Student Health Center isn't a bad place to park, as they run shuttle buses in a loop from that area to the stadium before and after games. The problem with that is your arrival time. I don't think they'll be running anything that early.

Another option is to continue down University Boulevard, passing the stadium on your left, until you get to the downtown area past Queen City Avenue. There are street parking spots available there for free, its a little less of a walk, and you'll pass through the strip area on the way to and from the the stadium.

Hey Hoyt,

Yards behind CHS sounds like a good plan. Is it a mile from Stadium or closer? Thanks!

About a mile, but IMO it's a better walk than the student health center. Walking back up the hill from the stadium to SHC after the game is rough. However, if you want to walk through the quad or go down the strip...park at the SHC.

My buddy has a hunting camp about 30 miles west of tuscaloosa, so we make the trip every other year and arrive at the camp on Thursday afternoon and go to campus on friday and set up our tent in the quad. I love going there because it is a beautiful campus and a lot of fun tailgating.

I've been to Tuscaloosa about 12 times. I can only count once where I experienced classy fans as a whole. You must tailgate inside a church when you go.

Last year for the Florida game they estimated 150k people showed up for the tailgate or in hopes of getting a ticket. This game is estimated to be worse.

I would take the $25 park while they're still $25.

Since you are the common denominator in all those shitty experiences, I'd venture a guess that you are getting treated the same way you are acting...

The key question is...what time are you getting there? If you can be down on the strip before 11am, head down University from downtown. You'll come up on the Hounds Tooth on the left. Take an immediate right on Red Drew. There are about 20 parking spots there that are free. If they are full, there is plenty of student housing parking down that street. Been doing this for 6-7 years now...have gotten the free parking at least 4 times. In fact, was a the TN game this past weekend. Rolled in there at 1pm and got the last space three spaces off University. It's so close to the stadium, most people don't try.

Good luck.

Just jumped back in thread. Was gonna say it if someone else hadn't. Was gonna advise him to change his look, too.

I hope that this is a great experience for all. I hope that we can get it together and show the fans of LSU great hospitality. Just remember that all the fans are not from Tuscaloosa, so just because some act like jerks does not mean that they represent our city. I hope that we can all have a good time. We want the win so bad, but if we don't, I hope that we have learned how to act, and not take it out on other fans.
If LSU fans come in with the same attitude, I think we can all party harty and it'll be a great week-end. I don't want to fear going to and from the game. The only thing that I want to be afraid of is not winning the game.

No offense, but there is nothing rough about that walk (from the Student Health Center) unless you're a fatty that hasn't exercised in a few years. BTW, why even walk all the way to the Quad from there. You can walk 150 yards to a shuttle stop and be on the Quad 4 minutes later.

Another convenient place to park is the next exit on McFarland Boulevard past University Boulevard which is Campus Drive. Cars start parking along the on and off ramp access lanes of that exit several hours before kickoff. It's free parking and only about a 250 yard walk to a main shuttle pick up/drop off point. You walk to that shuttle pick up and you're on the Quad in a little less than 10 minutes (as opposed to a 30 minute walk).

I Park downtown around the new Federal court house. If you get there that early you probably wont have any problem finding parking... best part is it is free.

Hope you enjoy the trip. ROLL TIDE

Thanks for all the helpful information about parking. Since I plan to get there at 9:30am, I think I will try my luck at searching for a free spot downtown first. I am sure at that time pay lots will be plentiful and still have spots.

My sample size of visits (twice) to Bama is much smaller than the guy above who complains (twelve), but in comparing Bama to the other places I've been in the SEC, I'd rate them like this.

BAMA > Tenn > Auburn
> Vanderbilt > South Carolina
> Florida > Georgia.

Notes:
Florida and Georgia have really nice campuses, but fan encounters were not pleasant on trips to both. South Carolina fans are great but stadium is set apart from school in warehouse district which brings it down some. Bama, Tenn and Auburn are all close in my mind and have many amenities and wonderful fans. I have built great memories taking my kids on the road to those places.

I don't drink too hard when I go, and I try to soak in the atmosphere and not let the outcome of a game played by 18-22 year old youngsters overshadow the whole experience :-)
