Hmm, guess I was wrong. I've always heard people say that though. Either way it says they recognize one of our so that's pretty cool.

My eyes might be pulling wool down, but no one besides USC has won a NC from the PAC12. Wow just wow

it seems to me that LSU is the only school that claims legit NCs

Florida as well.

Also Texas A&M. Our teams in 1917 and 1919 were undefeated AND unscored upon, yet we only claim 1939. One of the polls also tabbed the 1927 team as National Champions, but again we don't claim it. We'll just have to win a new one I guess.

Ahh, I looked at that link and must have missed those. I do remember Colorado now that you mention it. The QB was killed or something. His son went to LSU

I've always had a soft spot for GT and it's absolute bs that they had to share the title that year.

Yes it was, didn't Washington have to vacate their title because of the Rick Neuhitzel fiasco

Bama could as well: 1937, 1945, 1966 and 1977.

That was my point dick.

How in the Hell can someone honestly say CU is the legit champs from that year is beyond me.

They tied us, won a game they shouldn't have, lost to a shitty Illinois team, and only beat ND because of a horseshite clipping penalty, IIRC.

That was a mis-quote, obviously (originally intended for the Tennessee fan's comment).

Btw there are other years that UT could claim if we used the standards of some schools

If you were #4 in the polls and claimed a #1 ranking for that year, guess what? You are using the standards of some other schools.

If Bama drops claim for the '41 illegitimate championship, MSU will be happy to claim it. We'll also gladly claim the '40.

And OSU. Alabama shares the 1961 title with OSU (off the FWAA poll), even though 'Bama won the AP/UPI that year. But then again, UA claimed the 1941 title off the Houlgate poll, sooooooo...

With that being said, if it wasn't for that 1941 title, no one would be giving 'Bama shite for its titles.

Isn't the real reason that title isn't legit is because Alabama failed to win the SEC in 1941? How can you claim the National Championship if you couldn't win your own conference?

UT's 67 claim might actually be worse than Bama's 41.

Not close. 1967 isn't legit, but Tennessee had the same record as USC when the championship was awarded, and they were 2nd in both polls.

Bama was borderline top 20 in 1941.
