Yeah but those leagues only had one champion. You dont see the packers won the superbowl but heck the chiefs did damn good so we will come up with another poll saying something else since we dont like the results.

6 is a stretch. But there is no reason why they shouldn't recognize 1938.

if it wasn't for that 1941 title, no one would be giving 'Bama shite for its titles.

I don't agree. 1973 and either 1978 or 1979 were pretty much bullshite, and for that matter, so was 1964.

38 yes, but 40 and 50 are bad, and 67 is downright 1941-ish, if not worse.

How is 1967 worse than Alabama's 1941? For starters, Tennessee won the SEC while Alabama was 3rd. If you look at other polls, Tennessee was AP #2 and Alabama was #19 or 20.

1950 isn't really that bad, either. I know little about what people thought about 1940 or 1967, but they probably shouldn't be claimed.

I don't know why UT claims those.

We should just close down the school, IMO.

That's uncomprehending, Corndog logic.

No, it would absolutelty be Bama logic:

Bama claims the 1941 title based on one award, the Houlgate System award.

LSU could claim the 2011 title based on one award, the Colley Matrix award.

If an award from but one organization is sufficient to claim a title for any given year, LSU can claim a title for 2011 - just as Alabama does for 1941. Hence, Bama logic.

Well, I think you're stupid then. Both of those titles were indisputably won with the system that was in place at the time. Maybe you feel they were 'cheap,' but if you call them 'illegitimate' I think you are a moron. You know how you feel when someone says they don't count 2007 for LSU? Well that's how you sound.

1973 and 1964 have already been covered on this board ad nauseam so I won't waste my time with those two. However, 1978 is hardly a bullshite title claim. Alabama was #2 in BOTH major polls going into the Sugar Bowl against #1 Penn State. Alabama beat them 14-7 and thus proved they were the best team. USC may have beaten Alabama earlier in the regular season but they were #7 in the country at the time we played them. Alabama's lone loss was to a Top 10 team while USC's was to an unranked Arizona State team. Not only that, but their win in the Rose Bowl was very controversial as instant replay clearly showed that their game-winning touchdown was illegitimate because the dude fumbled the ball before he crossed the goal line.

1978 is as legit as it gets. The reason why the Coaches Poll went against Alabama in '78 was because of some really shady politicking by USC's head coach and Notre Dame's head coach, Dan Devine. The year before, Dan Devine had used the argument, "If you beat #1 you should be #1" to jump Alabama in the polls. Alabama beat #1 Penn State in the Sugar Bowl while ranked #2, but what does Dan Devine say? He says that USC should be #1. The dude was a hypocrite and was able to BARELY wrangle enough votes away from Alabama to give USC the '78 title in the Coaches Poll.
