But, but, but, I thought Brown was an LSU lock and this was going to be the best LSU recruiting class EVVVAAAA.

Rebels - bar and food recommendations in Oxford?
Posted by StrickAggie06 on 10/11/13 at 11:49 am
I'm making my first trip to Oxford this weekend. What bars and restaurants should be at the top of my list? I searched around but couldn't find any threads on it. TIA.

re: Texas A&M LA Tech on ESPNU
Posted by StrickAggie06 on 7/21/13 at 9:03 pm
In addition to the suspensions and injuries on defense, the refs were HORRIBLE in this game (Penn Wagers crew). They cut the play for time but right before La Tech first score, they call the worst PI I've ever seen on Jacobs vs Patton on like 3rd and 15. There was no contact AT ALL and even the commentators didn't understand why the flag was thrown.
After that point their O got going and the refs wouldn't let our DBs within 5 yards of Patton without calling a PI. If that call isn't made, we get the ball back, score again, and the game is likely a blowout. Instead we got the clusterfrick that was the 2nd half.

Ole Miss vs LSU
The epic meltdown by LSU fans on the rant after they lose in Oxford will be absurdly entertaining.

The humidity isn't that high!!!! Goddamn pussy Dallas Aggies
 If you want to compare it to the truly brutal parts of Texas, you're right. I grew up in SE Texas where the humidity is basically 90%+ the whole summer. And yes, Houston is also worse than CS. Still, it's not like the humidity in CS is pleasant.

Average cloud cover on Sept 21st
FYI, we play on the 14th, not the 21st. The trends might be similar, but I would be interested to see a comparison a week earlier. I've never been to Tuscaloosa in Sept, but it's crazy hot in CS because the high humidity and low cloud cover make the heat index retarded. A 5 degree difference between T-town and CS might be closer to 10 with the heat index factored in.
re: Who from your team can win Freshman of the Year
Posted by StrickAggie06 on 5/16/13 at 12:55 am
IMO, the only players on our team with a legit chance will be at the WR spot. We have a number of heralded freshmen coming in, but I think either JaQuay Williams or Sebastian Larue will have the best chance as both could possibly start and will get major playing time either way.

Texas A&M at Oregon
This should be an entertaining 5 hr game that lasts until 2am or so. Over/under 240 on total plays run. Our defense should be pretty good by then if recruiting stays constant, but this game could turn out to be an absolutely ridiculous display of offense.
re: When Ole Miss starts 1-6 in 2013
Posted by StrickAggie06 on 5/15/13 at 6:45 pm
Ole Miss will start 5-2 with losses to Bama and A&M. 4-3 at worst with a loss @Texas, unless they get thrashed by injuries early.

This. AJ cries uncontrollably. Kirby Smart is found dead in a dumpster and covered in little Debbie wrappers 12 hrs later.

This is pathetic... Are you dudes really brainwashed by this kid? He had two of the best OT's in football. I can't wait for football season. Their schedule is garbage, but he won't even sniff those numbers from last year. Fool them once, shame on you. Fool them twice? Pfft... No.
Book-the-frick-marked. Soooo many epic threads to bump this fall.

LSU loses to Georgia, Bama, TAMU, and Ole Miss this season.
Book it.

Technically, the modern era started when scholarship limits were first put in place in the mid 70's, but close enough.

re: The SEC Officially Has the Best Network Deal
Posted by StrickAggie06 on 5/6/13 at 10:28 pm
I believe a portion of each member school's total yearly TV/Bowl games/NCAA tourney revenues were withheld one year to cover the start up costs, but I'm not positive.

Means espn also gets to decide what goes on.
Actually, it looks like ESPN and the SEC will equally decide on programming:
quote:
5. Who decides the content?
There's a content board with four members from the SEC and four members from ESPN.
Commissioner Slive told me there was a substantial negotiating issue over who breaks the tie votes. (My guess is it's the SEC, but that's just a guess). The four members at ESPN and the four members from the SEC have not yet been decided, but Slive told me that he would certainly be one of the SEC's members. Assume that ESPN's Justin Connolly will be one member as well. The other members remain to be determined.
The content board will be the individuals who actually make decisions about what programming the network carries.
LINK
So, basically, the SEC assumes no risk, gets half of all profits, and has an equal say on programming. In addition, ESPN and the SEC have agreed on a minimum payout that the SEC will get until the network really takes off. There really isn't much else about the deal that could be more favorable for the SEC.

Holy shite. Is 27-0 not already a blowout? How does one bad call excuse 57 points?
4 defensive starters out + lack of depth + both sides playing up-tempo resulting in a 4 hr game + horrible officiating = our players getting super fricking tired and struggling to defend a very high scoring offense in the 2nd half
