Lots to unpack here. If you look at this from a recruiting and development perspective, this is quite interesting. Of the top 50 players according to ESPN, of note:

Wake Forest, 3 (counting Newman)
Minnesota, 2
Miami, 2
Oklahoma St, 2
North Carolina, 2

Georgia, 1
Auburn, 0
Florida, 0

LSU, 4
Alabama, 6 (all in top 20)

I can’t even keep up with all of the five stars Georgia has landed the past three years. Surely they have more than one too fifty guy this season

Dang, 3 of the top 7, and 5 of the top 20, played high school ball in Louisiana. Wish my Tigers had all of them, but no complaints here.

Then LSU should easily win more games.

I think so, but they may not by the end of the week.

Looks like you're not done unpacking since Newman is with UGA now.

The fact that there is a playing/not playing status makes me very sad

Newman is trash. Already hearing from Dawgs 247 he is struggling. Easily the most overrated player going into the year. Just watch his tapes. Average without two good receivers winning 50/50 balls to hike his pedestrian stats.

Eric stokes might be a snub. He was only a 3 star, but he has a shot at late first round draft pick at CB. The Baylor bowl game was his first TD given up in 15 games.

Jordan Davis is our next deserving upperclassmen. And I dont expect a NT on a top 50 list.

Any other snubs are underclassmen (George Pickens, Travon Walker, Nakobe Dean, Tyreque Stevenson). I'm sure there are other deserving names.

Any other upperclassmen getting a legit shot for post season awards are coming off of injuries or backup duty (Zamir White, Jamaree Salyer, Tyson Campbell, Lewis Cine). It would be crazy to insert them on a preseason list.
