a bust, a backup, and a rookie that hasnt taken a snap yet gets you top 10 QB status?

no kidding. and for all the top shelf LBs LSU has produced (far better than the QBs) and very recently, they're not even top 10?

UGA at #9 for RBs?

Bama at #8 for WRs?

List is pretty terrible

Edit: I see the "methodology" was NFL players since 1998 and used a combination of the ever so specific and quantifiable measurement of "NFL value" and draft slot.

8. A.J. McCarron multi year BU lead
Cincy to a playoff berth.
9. G. McElroy 4yr BU started 1game
10. B. Sims multi yr starter CFL.

All qbs except Sims,Starr & Hunter lead Bama to a Nat'l Championship. A.J. McCarron & R. Todd were part of 2 NC'S.
* K.Stabler should have won 2 but was robbed in 1966 by the poll voters in a travesty of bi-partisan bigotry.

Notable: Alabama's second-place finish isn't for a lack of résumé. The Tide have had seven All-Americans at linebacker since 1998, most of any school in the country, including first-rounders Reuben Foster, Reggie Ragland, C.J. Mosley and Dont'a Hightower.

This is wrong.
Since 1998 (their timeline),

First....
Bama has had 9 LBs make 1st team AA (7 consensus), with Mosley twice; not 7.
Georgia has had only 4 LBs make 1st team AA (2 consensus) with Jarvis twice; not 6.

Second...
Bama has had 19 LBs drafted/with 5 1st round
Georgia has had 20 LBs drafted/with 4 lst round.

Third..
Bama has had 3 Butkus award winners since 1998.
Georgia has had 1 Butkus award winner.

Fourth..
Bama LBs drafted since 1998 - 3 are Superbowl champs w/Hightower 3x SB champ.
Georgia LBs - none

Bama - 3 LBs are Pro Bowlers; 1 won AP NFL Def. Rookie of the year.
Georgia - 1 LB since 1998 is a Pro Bowler.

How is LSU not DBU?

We had three, yes three, 1st team all pro defensive backs last year

Adams- 1st team all Pro safety
Matthieu-1st team all pro safety
White- 1st team all pro cornerback

That is absolutely nuts

I don't know their methodology, but I can't see how Bama doesn't shoot up the list after a year of Jeudy and Ruggs being in the NFL. Then couple that with Waddle and Smith being drafted in the first round next year.

Wild guess - all the people complaining didn't read the article?

quote:

Defining Position U is hardly a cut-and-dried discussion, so ESPN Stats & Information had to come up with some parameters. First, we limited our scope to only seasons from 1998 on -- the BCS era forward. Second, we wanted to measure both quantity and quality, so rather than just a tally of NFL players from each school, we leveraged Pro Football Reference data to weight our findings based on draft round and average NFL value during their first four seasons. (Beyond four years, the value of the college's contribution is far outweighed by NFL development.)

Lastly, we wanted to include college performance too, so we gave additional points for all-conference and All-America awards. We also had to solve "The Jalen Hurts Problem," where a successful player attended multiple schools. For this, we awarded points for college accomplishments to the school they attended when those awards were received, while all NFL performance was credited to the last school they attended.

Any list that includes LSU in the top 10 for QBU but not LBU clearly isn’t worth a shite. So yes, no care

List is garbage in so many ways.

I'm sure this was created just to get clicks.
