I agree. I think Cignetti is a good coach but I don't think he's the #1 coach in college football like ESPN just ranked him today. He has coached at Indiana for 2 years and made the playoffs both years and with 2 different QB's but I think his team kinda snuck up on their competition in 2024 and I think his 2025 Natty run was aided mostly by his Heisman QB, Mendoza. There were a handful of games this year where Indiana was down in the 2nd half and Mendoza carried them to a win. He did it in the NCG versus Miami.

If Cignetti can make the playoffs again this year, which will be 3 years, 3 playoff appearances with 3 different QB's, then I'll give him ALL of his flowers but I still have to wonder "if Cignetti is this coach whisperer like the media claims, then why did it take him until he was in his 60's to finally get a D-1 head coaching job and the job he got was arguably the most dogshit job in D-1, Indiana." I think this is going to end up being a Brady/Belichick type thing in the end and we'll all see that Cignetti is good but not GOAT type of good like so many have crowned him lately.

Despite being # 16 to # 25 in the FPI rankings about half of those teams will have crappy seasons. I just hope UF isnt one of them and can go 8-4.

Cignetti has a good eye for college talent at QB and other positions. I mean he made a QB that was playing for the Ohio Bobcats in 2023 look really good in 2024 also. I wonder if he also is taking a lot of players that are very solid and experienced but just below that talent level where you have to pay a lot in the NIL market. He seems to just get around 5 or so expensive guys in his NIL classes.
