Scariest thing about this article is there's apparently a target demographic out there somewhere actually seeing logic being written in this drivel.

I mean what fricking whack jobs are they pandering to?

Lack of diversity??? Without checking any stats, Vandy is probably the most non-white, international friendly school in the SEC

I mean, it's 16% Asian, but that doesn't make it black-friendly. Blacks in university settings segregate themselves more than any other group. Diversity in the larger student body doesn't mean shite to them.

He chose a white female kicker.

That’s where he fricked up.

"They lean on the one or two Black assistants," said Dr. Leonard N. Moore, vice president for diversity and community engagement at the University of Texas, "who, in addition to coaching, have to do all this mentoring and supporting, all this emotional labor that they don't get rewarded for, while the white coaches can just sit in the film room working on their craft."

The professor quoted used to teach a rap history class at LSU in the early 2000s. Seriously.

I think expecting a media backlash like this and even the threat of lawsuits (see Jerry Baldwin at Louisiana-Lafayette) are more of a deterrent to hiring black coaches than anything else

If they want to talk about a “lack of diversity” have em look at an SEC defense.

The complete lack of self-awareness that occurs with these people when the subject of diversity in sports is discussed.

Athletics is one of the least diverse segments of our society. I’m good with that, because it’s a total meritocracy.

But when 7 percent of the population makes up 70 percent of college football, don’t bitch about the lack of a black coach or QB.

It’s ridiculous.

They must have missed his horrible record. Vandy is so left now, shocked they did it. Expected white chick kicker to be named head coach.

Yep. Crap like this manifests the discrimination that it claims to be against. I'm pretty sure that it's working as intended when this happens though.

It was a completely ignorant and inflammatory comment. Bitch needs some sleep - he's been woke too long.

How does him being fired expose this?

It just points out how few black HCs in D1 and at p5s there are in general. It's not a slam against Vandy for firing him.
