This makes no sense and you are providing anecdotal evidence that tends to disprove your post.

The answer is, that as Christians are the poorest citizens, and receive a disproportionately large amount of welfare probably in the name of Jesus, that they are just less educated and tend to be less intelligent.

WHOA THERE! Do not equate Church of Christers with the bulk of the SEC. It is mostly Baptist, followed by Methodist.

Just because your nutcase ex said it, doesn't mean it is the way most of us think.

That's all I needed to add. Carry on, everyone.

I'm disappointed ESPN would run this ad at the pressure of people fighting some imaginary war on Christmas.
well, i get disappointed when stations don't air such ads when nonbelievers turn up the pressure on the same said war(s).

The ones that grow up in it have a propensity to explode in college, that's for sure

All worldviews are not the same. The religons of Christ and Mohammed are not moral equivalents. And the contributions of Islam to American history pale in comparison to that of Christianity.

I think you meant that most of the South is Protestant, but there are plenty of Catholics down here these days escaping the anti-Jesus persecution of the north and Midwest.

We Lutherans are the best Christians, but that's neither here nor there.

The South is the last bastion of hope and goodwill towards others ... of fellowship and The Golden Rule and helping others in need. Down here we live by, "offer them a hand, not a handout."

I'm beginning to think we might actually be good for ESPN ... we may be saving their collective souls before all is said and done because, truth be known, if God is a college football fan he is a fan of the SEC, agreed?

Such as...?

And I love when Christians try to voice their moral superiority to Islam when both religions have the same origins. Your praying to the same god, why does it matter how you do it?

Moral equivalency has nothing to do with the question a hand though, does it? And Islam talks about Jesus and Mary a lot, to say that Christianity isn't one of the primary sources, if not the sole source, of moral guidance would be very ignorant.

look, i'm a proud southerner, but this whole statement is pretty spurious. we have the highest rates of obesity, violent crime, and poverty, while we have some of the lowest rates of education. so, what exactly does it say that the most religious region of the country is also the most destitute in the aforementioned respects? is there a correlation?

Hes not that far off. There is a correlation between wealth, intelligence, and devoutness. Historically and even now (Much less extent) religion holds back scientific progress and undermines analytical thinking. Its not by accident that the scientific community isn't very devout. In addition, less religious areas are more affluent and give a disproportionate amount of money to more religious areas. However, its not flat out belief and not.

If ESPN knows its demographics and doing so would be more beneficial to ESPN's business interests, it is likely that more that half of ESPN viewers either don't give a frick, or actually worship Satan.
