This list is going to look better and better as time goes on. Julio Jones is a future HOF and I think Cooper, Ridley, and Jeudy are going to be great pros

I think the biggest flaw in this seems to be there is an all or nothing approach. So, if you get whatever awards/honors they deemed worthy you get points. If you are really good but don't get those (say you have 2 in a backfield or whatever) you get nothing at all

That’s a pretty enormous flaw.

You could have a mega-stud pro who basically barely counts because he played at a school with other good players with only one ball.

You can even see it with some of the players that barely count for Alabama. (Linebacker, for example, where I think most would agree they’ve been consistently better than UGA)

Yeah... It's pretty painful how well you guys have recruited WR in recent years... Julio v AJ seems like ages ago and until last year, most of our top rated WR recruits have been slot WR or tweeners that may end up being good in college but not destined for big roles in the NFL it seems. Mitchell was injury riddled.

Hoping last year with Pickens was a turning point on WR recruiting at UGA.

Don’t forget Santonio Beard and Ahmad Galloway. They ran all over Auburn in the IB that one year

Yeah they were

I was a big Dre Fulgham fan, too

Who was DJs counterpart? Keith Brown?

Man, those Bama teams were almost more fun to watch because you never knew what the hell was gonna happen

I mean this with no trolling, but how does A&M make it into the top 10 for QBU?

For real, though I guess Robert Edwards just misses the cut in 97 but still:

Olandis Gary
Musa Smith
Danny Ware
Thomas Brown
Kregg Lumpkin
Knowshown Moreno
Isaiah Crowell
Todd Gurley
Nick Chubb
Sony Michel
D’Andre Swift

It’s not going to be the best team and maybe not top 3 but not top 10? Really?

Yeah, Oregon is more known for being RBU than UGA.

Alabama may very well take the WRU title this year. An absurd amount of talent at the position.

Clemson at #2 for defensive line seems a stretch. They had some recent success there but have they had enough since 1998 to be considered #2?

eh...nevermind. A lot of players I forgot about.

2. Clemson
Notable players: Gaines Adams, Phillip Merling, Ricky Sapp, Da'Quan Bowers, Jarvis Jenkins, Andre Branch, Grady Jarrett, Vic Beasley, Shaq Lawson, Kevin Dodd, Dexter Lawrence, Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell

I don't understand why Georgia beats out Alabama in linebackers.

Since 1998 (start of the BCS)

Draft picks
Alabama - 19
Georgia - 19

1st round
Alabama - 5
Georgia - 4

2nd round
Alabama - 4
Georgia - 3

Butkus Award
Alabama - 3
Georgia - 1

Consensus All Americans
Alabama - 7
Georgia - 2

All SEC
Alabama - 10
Georgia - 9

Linebackers currently under NFL contract right now....
Alabama - 11*
Georgia - 8

*The Jets made former Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley the fourth-highest paid linebacker in the NFL and highest among inside linebackers when they signed him to a five-year, $85,000,000 contract.

Georgia's highest paid NFL linebacker is Alec Ogletree - 4 year, $42,750,000.

This was my question. How much weight does someone like Eric Reid (Ignoring his batshit political agenda now) get for LSU? He was good in 2012, but better in 2011 IMO. To be honest his 2012 All-American and All-SEC honors had more to do with 2011 than 2012.

The problem is he was playing in the same defensive backfield as two All-Americans in 2011. Those two All-Americans combined for the Thorpe, Bednarik, SEC defensive player of the year awards and Mathieu was also a heisman finalist.

Certainly thought AU would have made the top 10 here.
