That has to be all in the 19th and early 20th century right?

Sounds like you’re ignorant on the issue as well with all that groundbreaking info you posted there.

Nice work detective.

No one was trying to "keep up with Notre Dame". ND had a very good decade in the 40's due to being able to bring in ex-military players. Not playing in bowls helped them to be able to play relatively weak schedules and then win.

All of Alabama's national title years ended in a bowl, every single one.

You might not want to try to compare your background information on college football to mine, you will lose every time.

I don't know about that. In the 83 media guide, y'all claimed 6 national titles. After that, y'all started claiming 11 (including the dubious 1941) - 1 more than Notre Dame at the time.

You missed 65 and 78 for the titles after the polls were standardized. Earlier Rose Bowl victories where Alabama was picked as the national title winner also count, as there are newspapers that list Alabama the winner the day after the Rose Bowl (not years as some like to try and say, a true rewrite of history)

The Alabama media guide of 1983, that says 6 was only counting Coach Bryant's record, as it also listed Coach Bryant's win total at Alabama.

Nope, the Coaches Poll went to Michigan State in 65 and USC in 78.
The Coaches Poll didn't exist until 1950. You can't just make up fake crystal footballs.

You almost make this too easy...
'
65 the AP poll went to Alabama
78 the UPI went to Alabama

and if you read the media guide you might notice that the win total (115-19), the 24 consecutive bowl victories, the most college victories (10 and 25 years) are all under Coach Bryant.

Come on man, I know you were educated in Florida, but really?

One other thing, since the polls were standardized after WW2, Alabama has only counted the NC won under that system, AP, UPI, BCS, CFP) that everybody acknowledges.

and those total 12....

Right, I even posted that someone would bring this up on the Alabama board a couple of minutes before you posted this. LINK

You realize that they were just representative of all the national championship trophies Bama has won.

You are one of the posters that is quite knowledgeable about the history of the SEC, the teams and even all of college football, so, of course, you knew this.

Wonder what the poster would have looked like if they had put in all the AP (11 trophies), AFCA (10 trophies), FWAA (7 trophies), NFF-MacArthur Bowl (9 trophies), and other olders trophies that are in the Bryant Museum.

Just the modern day trophies makes about 37. Would have been a pretty crowded poster.

They wouldn't have any MacArthur Bowls. It used to stay with the winner for a year but is now permanently in the CFB HOF.

From polls that didn't exist until the 1980s.

There is only one trophy, probabaly one of the most beautiful in college football.

But each team that wins not only gets their name engraved on the trophy for each year won (Alabama has been engraved 9 times, most of any school), but they also get engraved plaques commemorating the national title win. So the school still has something showing they won the award.

Yale and ND State on the list.

Yale was great about a hundred years ago. ND State is an absolute beast... at the FCS level. Not sure they should sneak in that high.

In a way I do feel sorry for ND State. What conference do they go to if they try for FBS? The Mountain West is a bit too far West. The MAC is a bit too far East.

Go independent? Good luck finding teams willing to come up to North Dakota in November.

Only now. By 2030 they may not win another, but they’ll find a way to finagle 2 more in there.

You're a salty little LSU fan. Still hurting because Saban used your team as a stepping stone; or maybe because Bama has owned your team lately.

Alabama doesn't have to finagle anything. ESPN used the information from the NCAA website LINK. They got the titles that the NCAA recognizes from their website and all the game stats for all-time wins, conference championships and other awards are on record.

I'm sure that ESPN doesn't have their office in Birmingham.

And Sports Illustrated which also just picked Alabama #1 of The Greatest Programs in College Football History LINK also isn't run by Alabama. Although some people would bring up the REC.

We're talking about crystal footballs. And the UPI picked USC in 78.

Except it lists ALL of your SEC titles, not just the ones Bryant won. Too easy, bro. Too easy.
