Brown is to the Ivy League what “Coonass” is to Louisiana.

It sounds racist, but it’s actually not.

I remember when Emory’s law school was considered pretty good

Well, they did let Meg and Brian Griffin in, so the bar does seem low.

Emory University Hospital was internationally renowned for their cardio unit, Arab sheiks, David Letterman, Gotti family, etc would fly in for their heart surgeries. Everything else about Emory is average and rides the coat tails of the cardio unit.

Then you have Emory, which is basically a regional school like Rice or Tulane

That’s going to leave a mark.

It’s a very good school, but I wouldn’t go around looking down my nose at the plebes when you would get laughed in the NE like a Brown grad at an Ivy League mixer.

It's not just Emory. Lots of small private schools like Furman and Wofford have an odd overstated view of how people view their academics. I remember first running into Wofford grads when I moved to the upstate of SC. They were shocked I had never even heard of their college before.

Perhaps they do now. Back in the late 90's though, if you lived in the metro atlanta area and couldn't get into UGA you went to Auburn. It was about the same distance as UGA and was easier to get into.

I remember the son of my USS swim coach (who's father was an AU grad and both of whom were AU football fans) ended up going to UGA once he got in. When I asked him about it he was pretty reasonable.

"It's a better school and the Hope scholarship makes it a lot cheaper."

Auburn was his backup school if he missed out on UGA.

Georgia Law School is ranked #20.

Emory Law School is ranked #42.

Tell me again how much better Emory is than UGA.

They're okay, but not a great value.

UGA is a better law school and a lot cheaper in the same state. UGA is about the same distance ahead of Emory as Emory is ahead of Georgia State, so even those who don't get into UGA often will choose GSU over Emory.

New user, I hate to inform you that Emory is not in the SEC. Perhaps you should seek out a message board for whatever conference they are in. Since you are here though, how is Emory’s football team going to be this fall?

I’ve seen like 3-4 threads about Emory lately

Why is this suddenly a hot topic? They getting a football team or something?

One of my HS gf's had a bff that was denied by all the big colleges, she was dumb as a stump. Furman took her in no problems, and her daddy paid big time for it. She should have gone to KSU but Kennesaw didn't have the clout at the time that it has now. UGA also didn't have the feeder schools like they have now.

At the admin level, you aren't wrong.

At the student body level, Emory is much more woke than UGA.

#1 Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology program in the U.S. for years. Eventually fell victim to greed.
