The Auburn offense being extremely fast is just a myth.
AU averaged 69 plays per game last year. Which is about 1 more play per game, on average, than we did the 20 years before Malzahn got there. Where it helps is with AU getting to the line and Malzahn having time to adjust to the defense. He is a genius at it.
It also helped that Gus scripted his offense to fit a player like Cam to a tee. Gus evolved his offensive scheme as the season progressed and geared it towards Cam's strengths. He won't have the luxury of a player like Cam this season.
But, I have no doubt that Gus will implement a scheme for Trotter to showcase his strengths as well. Hell, look what he did for noodle-arm Todd.

And damn near the entire SEC rant gave Dooley shite for saying this in the post game press conference after the LSU game.
because he wasn't trying to get people off the field. it had no relevance. he had 13 and they were set. the guys he tried getting off the field were on the sideline. how would that have helped? allowed him to count and figure it out?

I disagree..
Our defense just sucked so bad, every team would drive the ball down the field against us. We hardly ever forced three-and-outs so we could actually run more plays..

Roof did a good job of stopping Oregon's hurry up O so I agree with you, preparation is the key instead of complaining.

I think the biggest key to AU's offense is that it sucks the other team into believing they have to match the tempo. AU scores a couple quick touchdowns and suddenly you are pressing, believing you have to score quickly, or you will get run out of the stadium.

The ONLY time it ruins the game, is when the dumb arse officials don't allow the defense to make substitutions like they're supposed to. And it does happen, quite frequently. I think it's because you have to have an IQ score below 60 to be a referee in the SEC.

This can be attributed to two things. Auburn's ability to score from way out (big plays) and the lack of a defense.
AU moves at an extreme pace probably 70% of the time.
Gus has done an excellent job.

This gets over looked quite a bit.

I think there are different levels of AU's pace.. Gus tends to pick up the pace after first downs and big plays. If you watch him he is almost calling the next play before the previous play ends. As the drive becomes more successful, he starts to step on the gas... He also seems to know when to slow it down and pound on a team..(see last drive vs Ky)

Howard Johnson is right! (Blazing Saddles) The game is one in which the defense should have a role in the outcome. Even if a perfect offense was created, it should be limited to allow the defense to have success. Rules are changed to allow for the offense to have greater success and add excitement, e.g., offensive holding now allowed. The same should be done to equalize things if the offense has too great of an advantage.
The defense has a right to have a chance to be successful.

Auburn averages 27 seconds between plays. Oregon had 23.2 seconds between plays. OU offense avg 21 seconds btw plays. That's fast!

They do, They are allowed to move, shift, recieve plays and pretty much do whatever they want besides subs, the entire time, pre-snap.
The offense, not so much. Really it is the offense that is limited pre-snap, not the other way around
