Let that sink in. There were so many doubters, including myself, that he would struggle to win 7 to 8 games with the schedule he was handed. The man has done a hell of a job this year.

If he beats Bama even by 1 I’m ok with an extension

He's one win away from having the #1 ranked team in the country.

If you ever want a good laugh. Go to a USC(west) message board and bring up his success because they passed on him, despite him improving their team as an interm coach. Now he has the number 4 team in the country probably 3 when the real poll comes out on Tuesday, and with the most impressive win in the country. While the Trojans are 4-4, and about to start yet another coaching search.

It seems like you almost can't kill LSU. People (including most LSU fans) thought hiring O would destroy the program. Just looking at things objectively, almost anyone would agree. He won 3 SEC games at Ole Miss in 3 years the only time he was offered a head coaching job and he sounds like a character out of "Water Boy." Yet, LSU is somehow ranked #4 playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation. I thought we'd do better than what people were saying going into the year, but even I wasn't this optimistic.

Yep.

I posted back when Coach Eaux was hired, that I thought there was a pretty good chance he could be successful at LSU. I mentioned that the hire seemed similar to when Dabo became HC at Clemson. Dabo was a position coach who had never even been a coordinator. Excellent recruiter and motivator who had worked for and learned from some good coaches -- like Coach Eaux. Dabo got the interim gig and was then given a shot as the HC. It was little bumpy for Dabo at first, but he surrounds himself with a strong staff and is consistently successful. I see no reason why Eaux can't succeed with that model at LSU. The QB position has been a weak link too much in recent years at LSU. How well Eaux manages to resolve that is key. Getting Burrow was a pretty good move.

And to think you LSU fans were so mean to him.

I’d extend his contract another five years and add $10MM to the buyout if I were Joe.

I tell you. I have always liked Coach O. In a day where football coaches are supposed to behave and sound like college professors, coach O stands out for being himself. You can just really tell he loves the game of football and his kids seem to love him. I know he probably has a hard time getting a big time head coaching gig because he isn’t polished, but I want a guy that motivates kids and gets them to play hard at the end of the day. I hope he sticks around a long time.

Yes, unfortunately. I'm talking now though. And I did say "almost" because I know things can crash real fast.
Many were sure this was the year. I thought last year was the year when we lost to State and Troy. But somehow, LSU will win at least 8 games for the 19th year in a row.

It amazes me that people dinigrate this man because of the way he talks.... Honestly, I could only understand 5 out of 10 words Paul Bryant mumbled... evidently his players did understand his language....
