Everyone has racist history, not everyone is battling the perception of being at a racist university.
The perception is wrong, or at least it's wrong that it's just one conference university.

Maybe, but the perception still exists. That's all they're saying.

Not disputing any of this but the George Floyd debacle cast aspersions on the entire South. Part of our culture goes back to the war.
One can debate the causes of the war but now most every young person I know believes it was only about slavery and slavery only about racism.
For many, “Rebel” equals racist. That’s why Walmart pulled every single item with a battle flag on it in ONE day.

When O made these comments was he the head coach of LSU? That is the big difference.
It is stupid for any white SEC head coach to play the race card and try to be the victim like Lane tried.
LSU fans screaming “Ole Miss is more racist than we are!!!” is not a good look for anyone. There are no winners here, and the biggest loser is Lane Kiffin.

Cookie monster is right, it's floating in the breeze. Did anyone remember the Hummer commercials he did back in the 2000s.

Okay, dalton, okay, here is your attention for today

I don't even think the perception is fair, but it definitely exists.
Yeah, it exists in the same way that the perception exists that there is likely to be another 1972 Shoot-Out at any moment, like there was on North Boulevard, where innocent black children were attacked and killed just for being black.
Then the racist governor of Lousyana might deploy almost a thousand National Guard Storm Troopers to harass and menace the Baton Rouge black community and force them into hiding for fear of being shot on sight.
Everyone still associates that with Baton Rouge, especially possible recruits. A black player would have to almost literally be insane to want to play for an team in a city where things like that occur.

This is a Wendy's, sir. And Minneapolis is in Minnesota last time I checked and I'm almost certain it is not in the South.
Maybe you thought George Floyd overdosed on fentanyl in Memphis, since both Memphis and Minneapolis start with the letter m.

Does he bring his own translator for these or does the interviewer have to provide them?

Really? Everyone? I don't think so. You're the only one I've ever heard bring it up.

I think you mean *occurred*. It's history. Last I checked, LSU has no issues recruiting.
I ask, where are you from? Where do you live? I'll tell you right now the northern states are chock full of racism too, they just hide it. I have been many places and have known many people from all states, there's plenty of it to go all around. I've seen Klan in full dress picketing on a street corner in a mostly black area in Maryland with my own eyes. I've heard "hard R" from people from New York and many other places. I've been shocked numerous times on seeing and hearing racism up north, and that's coming from someone who was born and raised in Louisiana in the 70's and 80's.
The south gets a bad rep (and rightfully so) for their history. But things are already better now than they were back then, and hopefully they will continue to improve.
Morgan Freeman said it best when he said the best way to end racism is to stop talking about it, stop bringing it up. Kiffin should have kept his mouth shut and not brought it up. Racism needs to end, but it can't when people keep bringing it up or using it as a tool. Just like these Kiffin threads.

I wish Ole Miss would bring back Colonel Reb, waving the little Naval Jack flags at games, Dixie, all of it.
When I first saw them at at Auburn game waving the flags I thought it was the coolest thing.

When is the last time you walked around much of Memphis, Atlanta, Birmingham or Montgomery after dark? People could safely do thar years ago. Now…?
If nothing else just look at the decay in those cities. Have you seen how Atlanta is being covered in graffiti?
In fact, point out a single city that undergone changes like the ones above that are overall better then they were before:
The amount of cognitive dissonance that some people
live with daily to not recognize things they can plainly observe around them is mind boggling.

Am I missing something or did they not both frame it in the same way?

When I said "better", I meant blatant and systemic racism is way down from the way it was before.
As far as the crime and decay, well, that's due to several other factors like local leadership and policies, destruction of the nuclear family, etc.
