Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele created a scheme specifically tailored to slow down the Tigers.

Had Orgeron ever been a part of an offense that was so effective that it required a defense tailored specifically for it?
"No I haven't but it's fun," Orgeron said. "It's called respect. It was a pretty good scheme that coach Kevin Steele had. But there were some holes in it, like any scheme is. When you overcompensate for one thing you've gotta find holes in the other, and our staff did and it was the run."

Damn, Steele was in the fricking lab trying to stop the best offense in the country and still failed.

I think every fan, player, and coach was satisfied with how our defense played last Saturday. It did not fail. It held one of the most efficient offenses in NCAA history to 23 points on 15 possessions.

Our offense failed.

Id agree if not for the 500 yards. Further shows how hard it is to stop balance these days

Well, like 200 rushing yards, 300 passing yards.

I’m not saying that your defense didn’t play well, because they by far played better than any defense that we have played so far, but it’s not like we struggled to drive. We just kept messing up.

Agreed. But we knew trying to take away everything underneath would leave us vulnerable over the top. The goal was to not let you in the end zone and we did that pretty well. It took two championship level drives to do it.

Understand.

What I will say is you are the only team all year that has done anything really to limit our YAC, and that was very impressive.

Some of that is a product of how ineffective Auburn's offense was though. Not many teams will be able to do both against LSU, but that's what makes them one of the country's best teams. You need to score points (TDs not field goals), and reign in a QB who is really accurate. Tough ask

LSU would have had a huge play on a screen to Helaire
they just missed the pass

Dude, Steele did his job. Extremely well.

Auburn’s loss was on Gus. Period.

If AU had a half-way decent QB last Saturday, you guys are crying in your gumbo right now.

You are blind if you can’t see that.

Auburn's Def executed the scheme damn near flawlessly and it didn't fail at all. Defensively it was a huge success. Yards don't mean shite to Auburn or Kevin Steele. IT is all about the points. That LSU Offense is one of the best to come around in a long time...as painful as that is. Our goal was make you drive and score. You guys didn't equal half of your average points per game and that is with a ton of help from the zebras. (Refs are not why we lost...but it did help your yards that you all are so proud of) Auburn's Offense is why we lost. IT was putrid and a damn shame.

I think LSU is legit the best team in the country. I think they will beat Bama. I do not understand why your fans cannot accept a win. Ya'll won...yall were the better team. All I hear is we playd poorly yada yada. You didn;t play poorly...you just played a real damn defense. Anyways....Beat Bama! War Damn Eagle

I'll post this again....

Spanning across the 3rd and 4th quarters, AU had 5 consecutive 'three and outs' where the offense was pitiful (3 plays 1 yd, 3 plays 4 yds, 3 plays -3 yds, 3 plays 2 yds, and 3 plays -1 yds). The defense was on the field for almost a full quarter and LSU put up 200 yds of offense during that span.

Can't argue with any of this.

Kevin Steele has done a great job at Auburn.

I would say holding LSU to 23 points is a win for a defense.

the fail was on Auburn's offense.

Sorry if that destroys your false narrative

I didnt expect 20 points out of the offense though. So I would say the auburn offense overachieved.

If Chase doesn't tip a pass in the endzone meant for Marshall it's a different story

If Stingley secures the catch Auburn has 1 less score.

If several passes weren't dropped LSU has 3-4 TD's in the air.

Guess what... they didn't happen.

You are ignorant if you can't acknowledge that.
