There are two articles in today‘s Orlando Sentinel about Marcell Harris transferring LINK and about the possibility of Drico Johnson transferring LINK.

.All of the state of Florida players listed below transferred at some point in their high school careers.
Jerrard Randall-transferred from Miami Norland toHollywood, Fla./Chaminade-Madonna
Lamarcus Joyner-transferred from Miami Southwest to St. Thomas Aquinas
Tacoi Sumler-Guliver Prep to Columbus
Rashard Greene-transfered from a Ga. hs
Tommy Shuler-Miami Springs to Central
Bobby Hart-Cardinal Gibbons to St. Thomas Aquinas
Arrington Jenkins- Killian to Coral Park
Matthew Vincent-Flanagan to Everglades
Steven Montgomery-McArthur to Miramar
Sean McVay-McArthur to Miramar
Devonte Mathis-Carroll City to Miramar
Cody Baker-Plantation to Douglas

I remember talk of Aaron Murray trying to recruit Christian Green to Plant from Catholic.

Does Florida's high school association have really lenient rules about transferring from one high school to another?

Are most of these transfers from public to private schools?

Do the successful Schools like St. Thomas Aquinas, Plant and Miramar recruit?

I'm pretty sure that private schools everywhere recruit.

If they move they can get a hardship, there are also a ton of other loop holes.

The real question is not if it occurs but if anything is wrong with it? I dont see a problem with it.

Plant is a public school, for sure.

Plant is a public school. I'm not sure what Miramar you are talking about or if there's more than one.

Transferring is easy from private to private or public to private. I'm not sure about public to public unless you move.

Miramar is in the Miami area and its public. The easiest way for kids to transfer is to say they are going to a different school for a class that the other doesn't offer. For example I am in school A's zone but want to go to school B for whatever reason. I just say I am going there to take the criminal justice class that school A doesn't offer. Its pretty common for athletes and non-athletes alike.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, didn't Tim Tebow's Mother rent an apartment in St John's County so he could play in a particular school while still being partially home schooled?

If the private schools play in different associations from public schools like Texas does it, I see nothing wrong with it.

If they all play together like Louisiana does it, it sucks for the other schools.

Nobody except for John Curtis and Evangel have won a 2A state championship since 2005.

Before then Evangel was 5A and Curtis was 4A and they played in or won each of those championships.

Looks like Florida must have a similar situation.

Are Alabama kids able to transfer easily too?

every state should allow it.

California i think has open enrollment.. they still have zones for busing.. but if you can provide your own transportation, you can go to any school you want..

You have to document a valid move from one zone to another...and even then the school you moved from can protest your eligibility enough to make you sit (depending on the dates of your transfer).

Texas is pretty ruthless about transfers.. not the governing body necessarily, but the other schools will investigate every new kid that enrolls..

Transferring schools is extremely easy. Theres a ton of loopholes.

When I was in high school, a lot of times we would get transfers from the heavily black populated high schools on minority transfers. Since my school was majority white, these students could transfer if they were black to "diversify the school."

Also if your school received a failing grade on the state wide standardized test, then kids can transfer to an "A" school but maybe "B" too. Not really sure. But this is always for "academic" reasons.

Theres also magnet program route. Like the criminal justice example in another post.

Worst case scenario is you find someone in the school zone you want to go to and ask to use their address. I even knew somebody that used an elementary school's address. As long as no one reports you you're in clear.

Christian Life had to vacate wins during Michael Clayton's senior year because they played illegal transfers.

Correct. Transfers in Texas are investigated heavily by rival schools and the UIL if enough complaints are made. It used to be worse and very obvious with schools like Permian. Southlake Carroll was 'busted' just last year for it and lost their star QB transfer for the year.

Another thing about Texas is the lack of any real private school powerhouses - who can recruit at will I assume.
