Alabama could have 3 spots on the Mt Rushmore for ALL of college football.

Uh, no. No we would not. The Mt Rushmore for all of college football would be:

Bryant
Saban
Rockne

The fourth spot could go a number of different ways. It would have been Paterno, but obviously not now. You could put Wilkinson up there, or Hayes, or Leahy, or Bowden and not be wrong.

In fact, I'll modify my original answer. This is supposed to be for all of college football, so giving one school two spots is not right. It should be:

Bryant/Saban (pick one)
Rockne
Wilkinson/Hayes (again, pick one)
Bowden

MS State:

Sylvester Croom
Rick Ray
Andy Cannizzaro

And I guess Zach Arnett if we need a 4th

Ranked in order of how important they were for the history of LSU football.
You're obviously too young to remember Paul Dietzel. He put LSU on the map in football.

It is without a doubt Doug Dickey over Dougherty

Take that Power T down off your name.

You don't have a clue about Dougherty. He was the most important man in the history of Tennessee Athletics.

Fair doesn’t have anything to do with it. Saban and Bryant are one and two on the list, you can argue who should be first. The other two will be two of these: Tom Osborne, Knute Rockne, Joe Paterno, Bobby Bowden, Bud Wilkinson, or Wood Hayes.

Dooley ahead of Kirby?

kirby would definitely be ahead of dooley.

When Richt left in 2015 I contended, and still would today, that a very strong argument could be made that Richt is a better coach for us than dooley.

Dooley has the reputatino he does becuase of herschel, plain and simple. GRanted, recruiting matters. We sent a dude to camp out in wrightsville and we damn sure earned Herschel's commitment, and obviously the results we achieved with him DO count. I'm just saying that if you take away the Herschel years you have 22 seasons with 3 SEC titles and a shitton of medicority/losing years. Richt won at a high level without just depending on a the best player of all time to do it. He also did it in a MUUUUCH tougher era.

Chill out dude. I know who he is. He is definitely instrumental to Tennessee atheltics, but Doug Dickey in his affilition with Tennessee is responsible for 7 SEC Titles and 2 National Championships as well as almost every single modern tradition we have. He oversaw the building of TBA and the expansion of Neyland to make it what it is. Ill never forgive him for going to Florida but his impact is insane. Take Fulmer off the Mount Rushmore before you take Dickey off

Also the thread title was about your schools mount rushmore of coaches and Dougherty never coached at Tennessee

It's Mt Rushmore you need a 4th. Also there is no 5th head.

When you donate a minimum of $125,000 to the Tennessee Fund, what society do you get membership in?
A. The Doug Dickey Society
B. The Nathan W. Dougherty Society

If not for Nathan Dougherty there would be no UT Athletics.

Are you trying to be dense. The Thread title is "Each Schools Mt Rushmore of Coaches". He was not a coach at Tennessee. What are you not understanding

If we're including coaches from all sports, I would amend my choices to Bertman, McClendon, Saban and Miles.

Honorable Mentions would be Moore and Deitzel

Pirate would be higher if not for his premature death.
