Seems like this is happening every year.
Bama must know LSU is more their equal than Auburn by how they position their bye week.

We play a terrible team 8 days before we play Auburn. We'll be prepping for Auburn that entire week.

Schools have no say when the bye week is scheduled Einstein...the SEC does the scheduling...the only thing the school does is line up out out of conference opponents...nice try though

I dont even know why teams schedule their BYE week before Alabama. You would think teams like Tennessee and Ole Miss would schedule their BYEs before someone more beatable. I think they are reaching a bit, and they couldnt beat Alabama with 5 BYE weeks

Bama has a de facto bye before AU. No LSU football this weekend sucks, but this point in the season really is a good time to have your bye and get players healthy.

Not having a bye week all season really sucks, I'll be glad to make it past Ole Miss and make it to UT Chattanooga to get a semi-bye week

11 straight weeks is tough. Players get dinged up every week and don't have the extra time to heal that a bye provides.
Has AU always scheduled their bye this late? Remember one year Vandy had their bye the first week of the season. Needless to say it didn't help the Dores.

^^ This - and the SEC has fricked us for the past 2-3 years regarding our oppenents having bye weeks before they play us.

No, we have often played UGA and Bama in back to back weeks. Tubbs started the bye before bama.

Gotcha thanks. Did that coincide with SEC mandating teams play the weekend before the SECCG? Know that the Iron Bowl used to be played the week before Thanksgiving, but the SEC office made some changes.

LSU doesnt really have a big rival anymore. The only argument could be Ole Miss and that's lost its luster over the past 3 decades. I would have liked to have been around for the Vaught/Dietzel days. It would have been fun

Auburn's bye week in week 12 is incredibly stupid. They're going to run out of gas before they get to it.

When do y'all get out of that shite? Playing 11 straight is brutal for any team, IMO.

Who knows. I wish we had ours this week after that three game stretch. IF we can get thru OM, we have basically a bye week befure UGA and Bama.

If we can get by Ole Miss, we have a cup cake for home coming before Georgia. Ole Miss is gonna be huge for Auburn.

They likely thought that prior to the season.
Auburn is an 8-9 win team without Cam Newton.
No one knew what kind of impact he'd have.

Or we thought that our only opportunities to take a bye were in weeks 1, 2, 3, 9, or 12 since we have SEC games all other weeks. Who would take their bye in the first three weeks? And who would wait all season to take their bye before the last regular season game (unless you're Auburn and you're playing Alabama)?

quote:Not exactly true. Yes we did often play Bama and UGA back to back, but that was when the IB was held the weekend before Thanksgiving. Auburn then had a weekend off between the IB and the SECCG. The SEC added a rule that said none of the 12 schools could have the weekend before the SECCG off. That was when the IB moved back to the weekend after Thanksgiving - and this was just a couple of years ago. Auburn had the bye between Bama and the SECCG as recently as 2004, maybe even after that.
