Or does 8 out of 14 and 6 in a row prove enough? If bama loses of course it'll open up all the "SEC is overated/on the downward spiral/losing it's choke hold on college football" talk but when it's all said and done, did anyone really believe this run would last forever? I'm sure it'll be debated all winter/summer/and pre season but a win or a loss tonite doesn't really change the perception of the SEC as THE premier conference, it just gives other conferences hope and the SEC haters something to build on. The BCS era will always be remembered as being dominated by the SEC. I think it's more important that the SEC win it's first playoff series NC than win "another BCS" NC.

If Bama loses, the SEC is still the best conference in football.

If Bama wins, the SEC is still the best conference in football.

No. Doesn't matter what happens tonight the SEC will still be the premier conference in college football.

No.

Alabama has already repped the SEC well in recent years. This would just be a bump in the road for them.

SEC needs Bama to win so that 1-loss SEC teams still make it to the big show. (I admit that if it were LSU playing I'd have a harder time with that rationale because of recruiting.)

Given that ND is not in a conference, even if they do win, who's behalf are they going to brag? Yeah, doesn't matter especially since we'll have 5 finish in the top 10 at years end.

Don't need it because as everyone has stated, it will still be the best CFB conference.

But there has been more "SEC is overrated" talk this year than any other I can remember. I'd like the win.

This is completley irrational and illogical thinking that some people still hold on to. Do yall think that if 0 SEC teams were in the NC last year (or let's even say an SEC made it and lost) that bama wouldn't be in the game this year? You go to the title game based on what's happened in the current year. Not the past.

If there's 1 undefeated team next year and 2 1 loss teams, one of which is SEC, pollsters and computers aren't gonna say "well screw the season, it's the SEC so let's send them". They'll look at the schedules, win/losses, etc. Bama winning or losing this year has no affect on who will go in the future.

JMO as a UGA fan....

FWIW...Bama can't get any stronger, it’s not like any 5-star targets are sitting around thinking, “Well, they’ve only won 2 national titles under Saban, that seems kinda sketchy, I’ll need to see them win a 3rd before I’ll believe they’re legit.” Sorry, but Bama under Saban is as established as they can possibly be.

As a UGA fan, I don’t need Notre Dame added to the ranks of national title winners recruiting in the state of Georgia.
