When he was hired I speculated he could be a Butch jones: good interviewer but possibly not a good coach.

However that’s gonna be determined on the field

He definitely hams it up for the media and makes them feel special just like Butch Jones, which means that every TV broadcast team will say "Boy, Coach Sumrall really has this Gators program headed in the right direction" all the way up to the day he gets fired, just like Butch Jones.

I believe that Sumrall is actually a good coach.

At one point someone thought Butch Jones was a promising coach as well.

One thing that Sumrall has is the experience as a SEC linebackeer to point to. I saw his highlights as a linebacker at Kentucky and he was thumper.

Personally I prefer the coaches little more brainy than braun. Sumrall is a meathead.

You can be both.

I think he is much closer to both than he is a meathead. He uses his personality to connect with recruits, players, and fanbases, while using pragmatic delegation, adaptable schemes and roster management behind the scenes to win games. He seems a good blend of CEO and player's coach.

No. He hasn't once mentioned bricks in any interview.

I think he is a better coach than Butch, but for some reason, I don't see Sumrall succeeding in this conference. I would be surprised if Sumrall ever wins 9 games in back-to-back seasons

Sumrall is a very good coach, fla will win 8-9 games this season and more in the future. As a LSU fan I wouldn’t have had a problem if LK had turned us down and gotten him.The man knows football and is driven.

A high-energy rah rah cornball coach is tolerable to a fanbse as long they're winning. But if they're not winning, that coach turns into the most irritating sonofabitch on the planet and you can't stand the sight of one of his press conferences..

Personally I still can't believe Florida hired another defensive head coach. Scoring a lot of points is what Florida fans still associate their program with. Good luck with this shite…

His offensive hires prove this to be the exact opposite.

You’re not wrong, however we have struggled mightily on defense for a while now.
