The guy loves watching good football, so good football being played in front of him is going to excite him. Everyone here is like 20 years old so they don't remember, but his love affair with Tebow/Florida was out of this world. Then it was Saban/Alabama. Then last year it was LSU.
People just don't like to see announcers explain to them in a semi-excited way why the team they hate is very good and all the reasons why.

I will take any one of them over Gary tbh. I will say this for Gary though I think he has got a lot better now that he is away from Verne. Those 2 just fed off each other’s screw ups.

Totally agree there - and I love Verne. But those 2 together towards the end was not a good match.

He was the same way about Florida when twbow and CUM were there. He just rides whoever is #1. He will have UGA bias in a few years when Saban retires.

My wife still hates Gary to this day solely for 2008/2009 with Tebow. And she's about the most level headed, non-emotional person I know.

To be fair and it’s probably a little human nature when a guy calls a certain team as many times as he did UF or Bama now because( and I’ll admit this as a Clemson guy Bama is still the standard of consistency you want) I guess you get to know that staff and players so well it’s easy to do.

He's the best. I remember in the 2009 SEC championship game McElroy threw deep to Julio and Danielson said Julio slowed up. The replay showed Julio did(it wasn't obvious until the replay) slow up or the ball would have been complete. Things like that are why he's good.

No not at all. Just this past weekend there was a play where the receiver clearly bobbled the ball going out of bounds he was just all like "both feet in, that's a catch." I was like wtf?
I'm not in the he loves Bama camp, but it's absolutely ludicrous to say that he hates them. Come on.

Gary has a good eye for the game and is better than most at breaking things down in a way that is both insightful but not speaking over the general viewers head. The problem is you don’t always get to hear it because something grabbed his attention and he absolutely fricking refuses to shut the frick up about for the remainder of the drive, quarter, game.
His ability to turn into a nagging wife from an old sitcom is unmatched and interferes with what would otherwise be top tier commentary.
