There shouldn't be any discussions around coaching changes at SC until Ray Tanner is gone as AD.

The fact that a moron like him could hold onto the position as long as he has in the real indictment on our university.

That said, Beamer needs to grow the balls to fire the weak points of his staff and bring in actual P5 coaches. This is where I don't have any faith in him, and our AD isn't cutthroat enough to force his hand. I hope I'm wrong.

My current thoughts regarding our university:

How do you under perform at USCjr? USCjr should be grateful that he even wants to be there. It’s not like good coaches are beating down the door to get in.

They’ve won the division more recently than Tennessee has

You’ve been irrelevant in the 21st century and are widely regarded as the 5th most desirable job in your own conference behind; Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and Florida and will be 7th after Oklahoma and Texas join.

He is only in year 3 and 46 years old with a great resume before he got the job. He has finished middle of the pack in the East every year and could still do so. Recruiting at a top 20 class every year.

If you are an SC fan how much better could you hope to get from a first year coach? Same with Mizzou fans and Drink?

It’s because we are middle class programs we have to take young guys to get their growing pains. Maybe they don’t work out and you slip below middle class for a few years but it’s the only way to become an upper middle to lower upper class program.

Gary Pinkel elevated us and we were fortunate enough he turned down programs like Michigan after he proved himself.

The old proverb - take a long look in the mirror at who you are, not who you were (Nebraska) or who you think you are (UCF).

lacks the excellent recruiting grounds in state that the true top tier jobs have

And yet they still outperform in recruiting year after year. They are the #2 all times SEC wins, they still have recognized national championships. They still dominate in game day atmosphere. They still have top tier facilities. They still have a top supportive fanbase including deep pocket donors. They still are a big 6 in the SEC.

Despite wandering in the wilderness for 20 years are a top program in a top AD in the SEC.

There is no room for South Carolina Vandy. Miss st to consistently win … someone else will have to fall off. The sec is fixing to get even harder for them next year. Those 3 jobs are death jobs .

Is it that he needs time to develop as a coach? He he a bad fit for South Carolina? Does he need a change of scenery in the ACC?

If you are the South Carolina AD are you extending the contract with a normal raise?

You could literally replace Beamers name with Heupel’s in this whole premise and it’s the same.

Only difference is Tennessee already extended Heupel through 2029 after a few decent wins.

Right now you have UNC, Duke, Clemson, NC State, UT, UGA, all with in 4-5 hours from USCjr campus. USCjr isn’t out recruiting any of these schools right now.

Yes they are. At 18th (24/7) they're out recruiting all the NC schools, UNC (27th), NC State (31st) and Duke (36th). And they're right on Clemson's heels (16th). In fact, I'd say with Dabo's reluctance to use the transfer portal, they'll actually be ahead of Clemson as far as overall roster talent in a couple of years.

SC's problems this year come from losing a couple of key pieces in the transfer portal (mainly RB) and not replacing those pieces appropriately. Injuries to key positions (DB, OL and WR) have also hurt. While folks like to, you can't truly blame injuries on the Coach (Unless he kicks the wall....) Things happen.

This is a growing pains year for Beamer. I don't like it, but it is what it is. Hopefully he'll learn from his mistakes.

Still not sold on him as a head coach yet, but he needs better coordinators to start with. Some heads need to roll in the off season.

Coordinators are so important. Look at Mizzou hiring a competent OC and DC to go with Drink's recruiting has lead to the season we are currently in. South Carolina has more talent but they are not coached up as well.

James Franklin rode that “death job” at Vandy to Penn State where he is currently undefeated and ranked #7 in the country.

100% he will and should. This will be the first season he won't meet the expected win total, but recruiting is great. Stuff happens, and the hires/firings he does in the offseason will be huge, but we all knew this year would be tough. Next season may too honestly. The good news is how the roster is starting to stack up for 25. I know its a long way out, but in modern college football you have to give a guy time at a program like SC.

SC = coaching graveyard.

so was the point of this thread to kick an already down SC fanbase? Because that is just silly.

Tennessee hasn't done crap in the past 20 years. But thanks for the ancient history lesson. Fascinating.

Same can be said about Tennessee quite honestly. Tennessee is a distant 3rd in its own division on destinations for potential coaches.

That's actually being generous considering that Vol fans have the same expectations that Georgia and Florida fans have while having an instate talent base more similar to teams like South Carolina and Kentucky. However, the latter two programs are more patient with coaches than UGA, UF, and the Vols, so really they are more appealing than Tennessee from that persepctive.

James Franklin used Vandy as a "stepping stone" job to Penn State in a similar way to how Lincoln Riley used OU as a "stepping stone" job to USC.

I said consistently win because if they did that 3 other sec teams would have to do consistently worse…. Yah Spurrier did it for 3-4 years but someone had to fall off for that to happen. Franklin is like 0-15 vs Ohio state and Michigan not exactly inspiring . Penn state is a paper champion . Always looks good but when they play top 15 opponents they show true colors good not great team.

Does USC look like a stepping stone job Riley is worse off now, doesn’t have the same support he had at OU… he messed up and realizes it right now . I told you from start OU got the right coach OU fans needed in Venables . OU is out recruiting USC… OU is out playing USC… he is already trying to get out of usc saying he may retire early from college football and go to pros….. he has done nothing at all in college football nothing . He made OU consistently worse year to year . Were we shocked when it happened yes….. but we all knew what he was saying was lies and we knew after he lied about stuff that happened when he left was proven to be lies. No on robbed his house lol. They reported a black Escalade driving around his gated house lol. Go read a usc forum and tell me usc is better off now … nope
