Yes

And? Second closest at 45 was Bo Jackson over Chuck Long. Bo won and deserved it. Ingram won and deserved it.

2. Runner up (Toby Gerhart) had 1871 rushing yards and 28 TDs for season vs Ingram's 1678 rushing and 17 TDs for season

Different conferences, different competition? Best stats rarely = Heisman. Also their yards from scrimmage were actually very close (negligible 36 yards difference for the season). Ingram was much more of a factor in the passing game than Gerhart, which matters too.

5 games with less than 100 yards rushing is not Heisman worthy.

So it bothers you that Tre finished behind someone who didn't even win the award?

As I said, I don't get too worked up about the Heisman, but I thought it sucked that a really good kid who busted his arse and had an elite season got passed over for someone getting a career acknowledgement vote.

I know, but I thought he might get thrown a bone in the voting. Maybe there is no difference between the 2/3rd and 6th place to those guys, but I assumed it would be a decent bonus for an unexpectedly memorable season for him.

You can argue that probably 50% of the Heisman's given are given to the wrong player.

It's often a very political award.

For some crazy reason, and I cannot imagine why, the OP left off the fact that Ingram averaged 6.1 yds per rush and Gerhart averaged 5.5. If you throw in total yards from scrimmage it was basically a tie with 2028 yards for Gerhart and Ingram 1992. They were both worthy candidates but Ingram won because he was a better runner and he willed Bama to a couple of wins

I'll make one comment, the OP is consistent in his posts. I sincerely hope you are very young.

Did you not see the IB where Ingram destroyed Auburn on the ground for 61 rushing yards? If that's not Heisman material, then I don't know what is!

From everything I've seen of Ingram, he seems like a really good kid. One of the better Heisman speeches I've seen. I like the fact he got so emotional. They were both "worthy" of the trophy, but I think Bama never having one before and them in the Championship game swayed enough voters to get him the trophy.

He's cool in my book.

I love when ignorant fools throw up this data comparison without looking at the variable facts behind them.

a) ingram had more yards per carry and more yards after contact.
b)Ingram was taken out of the game during blow outs while Gerhart was allowed to stay in and pad his numbers.
c) Gerhart played less defensive talent.
d) you also failed to mention WR TDs 157 yds and 0 tds for toby vs mark with 334 yards and 3 tds. So I guess again it shows you are trying to cherry pick stats like a moron.

Also, they've had statistically similar NFL careers so it's not lot Gerhart has made a clear and convincing case that he was that much better than Ingram.

I think most people were just amazed to learn no one at Bama had ever won a Heisman before.

Stanford has one as well: Jim Plunkett. Elway lost out to Herschel Walker.

Ingram helped carry the Tide to their first Natty since 92 with great numbers and highlight performances. DWI.

Here's another hint. Alabama is college football royalty. The sooner people acknowledge this, perhaps they can DWI.

Now add on receiving yards.

Once you add on receiving yards, their total yardage for the season is almost even.

Let's not forget that Ingram did it facing better competition as the Pac 10 was not that great that season.
