Where the hell have our most important priorities gone?

I guarantee that Dawn Staley has had more of a positive tangible impact on this country than each of us posting in this thread.

Lmao you mean the govt lending that allowed colleges to jack up tuition prices knowing full well that the govt would loan the money out to them?

College tuition is out of control because of the govt.
Helluva deflection!...stay on the subject or start another thread.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you read is not what I meant.

Staley came out and spoke about this the other day. Before the Louisville game, they changed the cadence of pregame activities. She said her team was unaware of the anthem, and that it traditionally is played as the internal clock hits 0:00. Instead, on Friday, it was played when the clock hit 12:00. It was a disruption to their team game plan, but they were not told about it.

When they knew, all players and staff were out and standing on Sunday night.

Now, is she lying or telling the truth? Knowing how the press fricks up literally everything it touches, I'm inclined to disbelieve them more than I am to believe her.

When you don't, it screams "disrespect"

What’s “disrespectful” is trying to force your views or beliefs on others. Anyway, I guess as an A&M fan you won’t have to worry about a championship coach doing this because it would require winning a championship first.

If an important Florida football player came out in support of a liberal policy that you think is wrong or bad for the country, are you just wishing that player does very poorly or the whole team? If that player's poor performance causes the whole team to struggle is that still ok in your mind? How does your view change when its a player or a couple of players instead of the whole team

The fact that it is liberal or conservative doesn't matter. If I think it wrong I won't support it. If there were a conservative cause that the coach and team supported and sat out for the national anthem I would do the same. It is poor sportsmanship.

I don't really root for people to fail, I just would not be a fan and not follow the team any longer.

Edit, the reason that I would hope they lose is so we could replace the leadership and I could start following the team again.

Our girls won a basketball national championship in 2011. They showed up for the anthem? I guess that was before everyone with a twitter thought they were Malcom X.

Let any team from UF do this and I will root for them to lose every game until all the people running the program are gone.

This seems contradictory

I see your edit now

Good for them. I’m not against ppl standing, kneeling, sleeping, or rolling around on the ground during the anthem. America is supposed to be the land of the free, so do what you want.

bullshite!
Those scholarship athletes represent the school, and their collective message to the country is one of disrespect!
If they want to protest the country's Pledge of Allegiance then stop accepting the country's scholarship money, or ANY other govt. assistance that they're probably getting!

In other words quit accepting tax dollars that come from OUR personal pockets

This doesn't matter to the people on this board whose minds are made up and just want to bash Staley.

Nevermind that they were on the court and standing for the national anthem during the championship game.

You would think that if it was all about protesting and sending a message, they would do it for the biggest game of the year.

Wow! You are such a reasonable American….you’re not against people standing for our national anthem…what a shining example you are…a beacon of light in a wayward country.

I would think at the national championship game, there are people organizing things who will communicate with both teams when all the pomp and circumstance is about to begin and not just leave everything up to happenstance. Especially with a hot button issue like this that will be construed as being done on purpose.

Let me ask this question, has South Carolina protested the anthem before this game?

" A song?"..."A song?
What a bunch of ungrateful, entitled brats we have around here!
You'd think, especially considering what's happening in Ukraine, that people would feel thankful and appreciative to be an American, and show their pride and appreciation by honoring our anthem/flag whenever we could.

I sincerely hope this was the case. I admire her as a coach, and don't want to believe that she'd influence the kids on her team to NOT appreciate what we ALL have in this country.

Have an upvote sir…the fact that Atlanta referred to the anthem as merely a “song” tells us all we need to know.
