Wealthy white men created the wealthiest and most powerful country in world history.
They should have rich, white guy appreciation courses at every college. The "Deans of Diversity and Inclusion" should get on that and finally do something worthwhile.

quote:That's the line that Sankey fell for, and he was a fool to do it. The Big Ten was not an option for OU and Texas two years ago. First, the Big Ten got burned with its last expansion (Maryland and Rutgers), and the schools were not excited about further expansion, even if the conference office might have been. Second, ESPN wasn't going to let Texas out of the LHN contract if Texas left for the Big Ten and its Fox TV contract.
so question for those of you that don’t want Texss in the SEC.. Would you really prefer that Texas was in the B1G? Have you thought about how big the money gap could have been at that point?
The Big Ten's reaction to this move, adding USC and UCLA, is another bad move done by the Big Ten in reaction to the SEC. UCLA had to agree to pay ransom to UC-Berkeley in order to get regent approval for the move, so they will be competing with a short stick against their conference rivals, and that is not likely to turn out well for them. I doubt USC's ability to capitalize on the move, as well. And, as for the rest of the Pac, this sinks them to obscurity. The only good thing that might come of it is the death of the Rose Bowl as the sacred cow around which the college football post-season must be built.
Sports is a business, but it's unlike other businesses in that the competition is the product. You don't win in sports, in the long term, by running your competition out of business. But that's exactly what is happening with the coming of the two mega conferences.
Bottom line: Instead of calling their bluff and preserving college sports as a ecosystem with 64 or so products, Sankey instigated another round of musical chairs that has destroyed the Big XII and Pac-12, and left the buzzards circling over the ACC pending the expiration of its grant of rights in the next decade. The end result will be less than 50, and maybe less than 40, major programs down the road.

This setup at least allows two conferences to survive.. the other way might have only left one.
So it's your opinion that the SEC might not survive without Texas?

TLDR. I did forward on to Greg for you though. I’m sure he’ll get right back with you.

I actually agree with this. The SEC has moved from alpha predator to panicky in short order.
Replacing Mike Slive with Greg Sankey is painful in hindsight.
We went from an Ivy League educated super lawyer/judge/Athletic Director to a career mid-level compliance schlub that couldn't hack it at LeTorneau University in Longview Texas and could only land a job directing intramural sports at Utica College.

I was against Arky, U of SC, joining and remain so. I was against TA & M and Mizzou joining and remain so and I am against Texas and Okla joining also.
The SEC has lost its traditions and soul chasing the all mighty dollar.

Every one of your school presidents voted yes. Take it up with them.

When UT bullmilkers hit this forum by the 100's, we will all be worse for wear.

They won't be here to talk sports, so what's the diff?

Last I heard, all of your schools voted “Yes”.
The alumni and fans did not get a vote.

I am actually looking forward to having teasip and chokelahoma in the SEC. It will mean more money for every member and automatic wins in football most of the time.
I do hope we get to keep LSUcks as our Thanksgiving game. It has turned out to be a decent rivalry.

I think adding OU and Texas adds to the fun. Two hated traditional powerhouses. It’s going to spice things up in a good way.
I agree. Saturdays will be really fun with OU and UTa playing in the SEC. This was a long time coming, as many people in the early 90's thought both OU and UTa was coming in.
Financially it was a good move, athletically it was a good move so there is that.
OU will have no problem adjusting, but Texas will be like a small fish in shark infested waters. As my Texas-Exes cousins realize nobody is going to take Texas seriously. If Texas says it is to be their way or they will pull out, the rest of the SEC will show them the door, laughing at them
Texas is use to having their own way, and that will not fly in the SEC.

Fixed it for you based off of texass’s proven track record

I wouldn't confuse the shorthorn fools over here with what Austin knows about the SEC. They are losing their Network to make this move. It took humility to ask to come to someone else's conference because they couldn't make it where they were.
Big business keeps the big picture in mind. They chose wisely, win, lose, or draw.

I’d drop down to 8 or 9 teams if I was in charge.

And whatever comes out of it, you will not be invited.
We don’t pretend to be a bell cow of the SEC but we are no slouch which you will find out in every sport. You assholes think you are special but your not. Y’all are a soft pretentious cancer. Everyone in the SEC has money and is doing fine. There’s a reason y’all are jumping ship to our conference and not the other way around. Sit down in the back and shut up and enjoy the fruits of what the 10-12-14 of us have built.

That’s fake as shite. Texas is a difficult school to graduate from. That question was teed up for an easy answer.
That’s an Aggie test if anything.
Also, we’re going to beat the ever living shite out of Alabama in a few months.
