Do notre dame fans get bored watching their team play lesser competition every week?

Or do they get excited when Navy and boston college come to town? Why did they partner with the ACC? They perfectly fit the mold of a big 10 team.

I spend so little time thinking of Notre Dame

I don't know, but it doesn't bother me when Alabama plays them at all.
Alabama has played the toughest schedule in the country according to FEI ELS, GLS and ALS. I'd have rather played the Notre Dame schedule.

Did Bama fans when Saban was there?

They partnered with the ACC because the Big 10 offers tougher teams to play.
They should just join the Big 10, but the powers that be continue to bend the knee rather than forcing their hand.

The games are still competitive most weeks despite the quality of the opponents.

I’m sure it’s a blast being able to lose to big 12 teams and not having to worry about dropping any in the rankings

Does the SEC get tired of not making championship appearances. Overrated conference propped up by preseason rankings. Indiana and Ohio State are more complete products

No because if they played a sec schedule they would be 5-7 every year.

I hate Notre Dame just as much as the next guy but holy shite..
The sad part is I think there are some people here who believe this.

They should just join the Big 10

Rantards : A playoff devalues the regular season.
Also Rantards : SoS devalues everyone else's regular season.

You must be talking about last year's Indiana team. Because nothing says "complete team" like needing a 4th quarter comeback to escape unranked Nebraska, followed by a loss to OSU, and following that up with not being able to get into the end zone in 4 quarters vs Michigan.
And Ohio State lost to a team that's currently 9th in the SEC standings. And that was before OSU lost their QB.

Our high school here is undefeated currently, has outscored opponents 300+-40, but hasn’t played a team yet w a record better than 3-6, so I can relate, and I have to say it was just as fun last week as it was the first of the year, so I’m sure the ND fans are perfectly fine w this

Recruiting, notre dame has always prioritized recruiting east coast(Florida to jersey) Chicago Texas and California. That’s part of what created the shamrock series where they neutral site a game. At the time of partnership they played Stanford/cal every year so they had Cali presence locked up. The sec is not going to offer partial membership to anyone ND included. The big probably wouldn’t either but nd plays enough Midwest games so they would prefer playing in recruiting hotbeds vs Minnesota wiscy Iowa etc. That really just left the big 12(Texas) and acc(east coast). ND are snobs and would rather be aligned with acc schools.

ND won't join the B1G for two main reasons:
1. They still imagine themselves to be a "national" team and don't want to be typecast as just another Midwestern school. The B1G's national footprint might eventually alleviate this, though.
2. ND tried to join about a hundred years ago and they got blackballed, and their fans are still holding a major grudge about it even though it happened before any of them were born.

A playoff does not. A 12 and 24 team playoff most definitely does.

Notre Dame plays 3 ranked teams this season and has already lost to one of them.(BYU)
They have #1 Miami left and #19 SMU. So, more than likely they will play 3 ranked teams and lose to two of them. It will be interesting to see if they can beat SMU. They probably can, but if your teams best win is against SMU, would you get excited about it?

The main reason at this point is that ND is waiting out whatever inevitable breakoff event will happen - probably sooner rather than later - and legislative restructuring that will happen. I actually think you'd find many ND fans who would have never in a million years thought to be OK with joining the B1G ten or fifteen years ago would be fine with it now. That is effectively a completely different entity than it was just twenty years ago.
But I think they don't think this is sustainable and expect it all to shake out over the next 5 - 7 years. The current B1G is just a media rights conglomerate with a lot less commonality than is probably good for it.
Game theory would also suggest that it's in the SEC's interest to keep ND independent so as not to supercharge the already best-in-college-football media rights package the B1G has; hence why you've seen H/H's scheduled with Auburn, Alabama, Texas, Florida, etc. over the coming years.
