Pure lie. Grew up in StL and never heard pop until visiting Michigan.

People in the south, especially the deep south, say fixin', as in "I am fixin to go to the store". If, however, someone in the deep south is in the process of repairing something and someone asks us "what are you doing" we will respond "I am fixing the dam dishwasher". If we are about to commence repairs on something we might say "I am fixin to fix the damn truck..."

I can't believe that y'all are argueing over something as stupid as this on a website that is supposed dedicated to SEC sports. It has gone 4 pages and still growing.
It is posts like these that make me realize that I could be the smartest guy on this website.

For all SEC fans... Do y'all use "Tump" in our normal vocabulary? Do y'all know what it means?
I had a neighbor in LR who moved there from Wisconsin. He had never heard the word.

Why do texans call all soda coke? That makes no sense since Coke is a brand. What kind of coke do you want? Pepsi please. Makes no fricking sense.

The 1979 Oklahoma at Missouri game included the best running back duel I've ever seen in person... Billy Sims vs James Wilder. Most people don't know this... but Billy Sims was actually from St. Louis and didn't move to Texas until the eighth or ninth grade. So it was actually two Missouri boys who were fixin' to duke it out that day.
