Lynyrd Skynyrd was from Jacksonville so does that mean Sweet Home Alabama is about Florida?

The time to bring it up was a month ago. I also think Alabama should be able to take whatever they want from Tennessee since the Vols have won once in the last 16 years.

It must suck not having football to talk about this late in the year.

History is written by the victors. You have been conquered. It’s a bama song now.

again everyone arguing over which states "owns" this piece of music and no one talks about the absurdity of the song
First verse: it's all about some guy getting off work and taking his lady out for date then the two of them getting down in his truck
second verse: he just lists animals
it's an objectively weird and insane song

Dixieland Delight was released in 1983 – I don’t know for sure, but I am pretty confident in saying that Alabama has not been playing this song at their games for the past 40 years – I am going to assume this tradition potentially began 15 or 20ish years ago? (I am sure someone has better knowledge than me on it)
Personally I think it is a pretty cool tradition that they have started. I think it is a great song and the University of Alabama has sort of adopted a song made famous by the country artist Alabama – good for them!
It sounds a little bit like sour grapes on your end. I guess the University of Tenn. had approx. 20 or so years in the 80’s and 90’s that you all could have taken that song , started playing it at your home games, and making it YOUR tradition before Alabama starting doing it…..

Just a reminder that every time you play this song, you are promoting a Tennessee Fan
Seemed to have a good time on the field @ Bryant Denny a couple of weeks ago watching the Ark game

Either way, it was a truly devious and inspired move by the Alabama gameday operations team to do this.
REC is inevitable.

Fact #3 Rogers is a Vols fan-
Did you see the video of him in Bryant Denny singing along with the ALABAMA fans? I think he knew they weren't cheering on the Vols and he seemed to enjoy it!!

I hope the facts end the debate about rather it’s Tennessee song or Bama song.
Alabama owns Tennessee. Thus we own your songs. Good talk.

So it is 100% fact that when Rogers come up with this song, he wasn’t thinking about anything in Alabama.
No one said it was a song about Alabama. Its also not a song ABOUT Tennessee. Its a song about hooking up with your girlfriend in your truck that takes place in Tennessee.

They are from Fort Payne, Alabama. Which is fitting, since this song causes nothing but pain for Tennessee fans.

What was the name of the band that popularized the song?

But needed a Tennessee man to write it for them, as they w wasn’t smart enough to writhe their own song.

Bama steals traditions it’s a know fact. The chant We just beat the hell out of you was stolen from us as well.
