I doubt it - but i think it might be eye opening to all teams fanbases about there teams -and may precipitate investigations into other conferences.
this is just the tip of the iceburg

Take it FWIW, but I've read, from people who know what they're talking about, that the Keys stuff isn't true.

well you kinda have to put into prespective about "ima tell this" for money.
sometimes it pays off ala Canseco and MLB?Steroids. more often than not it doesn't pan out.
will be an interesting watch to say the least.
the Rant will be awesome after it airs.

I should have been more clear. They said it wasn't true that he talked to HBO, period.

Last night on their show, Moore and Barger expounded on what they knew about the HBO special based on what Bond had told them. HBO had contacted Bond and Bill Bell, the other MSU booster involved, to be a part of the episode. Bond claims HBO has a "bombshell" related to Auburn and would only share it with the cooperation of Bond, Bell, and MSU Athletics Director Scott Stricklin. While Bond met with the program off the record twice, he and Bell won't go on the record for now at Stricklin's request.

The Fox affiliate in Tuscaloosa chimed in a little while back, saying it saw HBO's crews interviewing former Alabama receiver Tyrone Prothro. Prothro allegedly was approached by a runner for agent Raymond Savage while in the hospital after his gruesome leg injury, an action that got Savage arrested last week for breaking Alabama's sports agent laws.

Finally, Chuck Oliver is saying that the episode will entirely be about the SEC and that a former Alabama player is willing to come on the program to allege that he got benefits too. Oliver calls his information unconfirmed rumor, so take that for what you will.

bama fan saying their player's rumor isnt true....sounds a lot like what some auburn folks say about mcclover
There honestly is no telling. When they go down the roster and find players and offer cash to them for their story some are going to make crap up just for the cash. I'm certain many are true but as the NCAA finds out most of the time these things are big on hype and little on substance.
I'll wait and see but I won't lose any sleep.

The sad thing is that after this HBO story is released, there will be even more "down on their luck", former SEC players that would be more than willing to drag their former schools through the mud if it meant they would be getting paid for their statements.
I don't even think there will have to be money involved.
Remember the Tiger Woods scandal. Initially it was just one girl. Then investigative journalism turned over up a few others. Eventually skanks just started coming out of the woodwork, like some crazy mob mentality had taken over and nobody wanted to be the girl who got used as a human toilet and didn't at least get her picture plastered all over the paper.

I feel better about the Key's "rumor" that Oliver is speculating about being BS the more I read. Another board has the original post where the Key's rumor came from and it was on a Stanley McGlover thread on an Auburn board. An Auburn poster basically suggested that if he was with HBO he would go talk to Keys about his recruitment. In other words, an Auburn poster threw some s### on the walls and his fellow board members were all too anxious to twist that into him actually being on the show. Oliver, a known Auburn homer, was all too happy to mention the "unconfirmed rumor" on his website. Gotta love the Auburn spin and deflection machine.

This is what I understand and it's really pathetic.

Apologize to who? The same fanbase that constantly spreads shite about Bama? I don't think so, I have no problem admitting I was wrong.
(I realize Bama has pathetic fans that do the same thing)

It is true there is a statue of limitations on the time frame that the NCAA can pursue programs for committing violations of this nature and that window (four years) has since closed in the case of both McClover and Keys. Having said that, there are a few clauses in the NCAA guidelines that could open the door for the NCAA to pursue these programs. The most notable one would be that if the NCAA believes a program has "a blatant disregard for the Association’s fundamental recruiting, extra-benefit, academic or ethical-conduct regulations" they can pursue that program regardless of the time that has passed.

In a March 30th episode, HBO's Real Sports will run a story that examines some of the darker means and methods used to lure football players to college campuses.
At this point it appears as though the feature will be entirely focused on the schools of the SEC. Former Auburn player Stanley McClover is the only player that is currently confirmed to have taken part in the Real Sports piece. McClover supposedly talks about benefits he received while at Auburn. These benefits, which would be deemed improper by the NCAA, were given to him by a former position coach and continued throughout McClover's time at Auburn. It is also rumored that former Alabama player Chris Keys will speak with HBO about his recruitment process and illegial benefits he may have continued to receive once he was on campus.
Fair or not, expect the majority of the speculation as to which assistant coach gave McClover these improper benefits to be focused on former Auburn running back coach Eddie Gran. Gran has long been considered one of the nation's top recruiters and his area of speciality has always been South Florida. Gran was a key component in Fort Lauderdale's Dillard High (McClover's high school) becoming a pipeline to Auburn. It is worth noting that when McClover declared early for the NFL draft he specifically thanked three coaches: Tommy Tubberville (head coach), Terry Price (position coach), and Eddie Gran. By no means am I insinuating that because a player mentioned a coach as he departed for the NFL that this is somehow proof that something illegal took place. However, it would point to the fact that there was a greater relationship with McClover and Gran than Gran just being the coach that happened to recruit him.
After Leaving Auburn, Gran was at Tennessee with Lane Kiffin for one year in Knoxville and is now at Florida State.
In my opinion there are some questions surrounding the credibility of Chris Keys. Keys was only in Tuscaloosa for two years and left the university under less than ideal circumstances after being dismissed by Mike Shula in 2006. Keys also had serious character concerns steeming from his time in high school.
